In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The coded messages where links to Maths, plenty of oral language opportunities, science - identifying fruit and vegetables and health - discussion around healthy eating and what our bodies need.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We planted some of our seedlings and we are going to monitor them to see how well they grow. Hopefully we will be able to try some of the vegetables.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit allowed children to see how vegetables are grown, what is needed to look after them and it led to discussions about fruit, vegetables and plants.

The children know the benefits of healthy eating, how this is a family effort, that certain fruit and vegetables provide different nutrients. “The children had such fun the whole way through this process, right from the box arriving and guessing what was inside to watching their seedlings grow! They feel very responsible working together to care for their seedlings and they have enjoyed discussing how to help them grow as well as the importance of eating healthily. The class inspired each other with the new fruit and vegetables they have tried and used their imagination creating stories for the LGL characters. A lovely school kit to be a part of!”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We did it alongside the super insect cards from countdown so our learning with continue well into next term, yay! Thank you school kit.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We’ve talked lots about veges but not necessarily why they are good for you yet - this will probably come in the taste stage next term.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We use technology to take pictures of the plants progress, we used maths to measure them with our rulers. We used art to draw what we think our plant would look like when it grew.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to grow some sunflowers next for the summer to extend our learning about plants and growing things and what plants need. We have developed an interest in growing things so we will carry it on next term.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has helped the children become more aware of the different herbs and vegetables available. It has helped the children learn what foods are vegetables and how important they are in our diet.

“This kit has been amazing, my little 5 year olds have loved planting and then watching their seeds grow. They come into the classroom every day to check how much they have grown. So thank you so much for this opportunity to help my class grow their own little herbs and vegetables and to teach them about what plants need. What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children will learn about seedlings needing certain conditions to be planted in, how to read seed packets and have the opportunity to gift their seedlings and produce to the school gardens and community.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The feedback from parents has been that children are talking more about vegetables and even giving new vegetables a go. The students are looking forward to being able to taste their vegetables.

“My Year Two class absolutely loved this School Kit. From the moment the box arrived in class (and couldn't be opened) they were eager to find out what was inside. The excitement when it could finally be opened was contagious. They loved the process of applying, having a test and receiving a badge to be members of the Little Garden League. They thrived on receiving the codes and having to solve. They took great care when planting their seeds and continue this with the care they are showing them as they grow. The feedback from parents has been that children are talking more about vegetables and even giving new vegetables a go. The students are looking forward to being able to taste their vegetables.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My children loved trying new foods and vegtables. I had a parent who shared how pleased she was when he child asked her to buy capsicums from the supermarket becuase he loved eating them now.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit incorporated writing because the children took very much interest and it carried into their writing. We learned about health and wellness. It led us into science and how plants need water, sunlight, and soil.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I have a class who loves flowers. This kit encouraged them to want to do more planting. It looks like we will be planting flowers in the future!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had great discussion about what foods are good for you and not so good. This led into more discussion about how we can stay healthy overall.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Could potentailly keep some in class for a longer time and teach the kids about being more responsible for them over a long time. Could integrate more maths, science, and literacy.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This probably could have been more effective if we had had time to talk more about the beneifits of eating vegetables. This is not the fault of the kit, more of a time thing for us.
