How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Students were able to write about the project and track the progress of their plants through writing. Children were also able to write information reports. As a class, we were also able to tie this into healthy eating and what this looks like.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning about how long seedlings take to fully develop once in the garden and children were able to learn about what it takes to plant and grow something.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Encourage students to grow their own vegetables at home and share with their families what they have been learning.
Little Garden was a great project for my children to learn about growing and planting vegetables and what it means to look after and care for these growing plants. Children were very engaged in the project and were always looking after and caring for their seedling.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Visual perception skills were developed with the cool game. Literacy skills of decoding were enhanced by the letters. Health and safety were encompassed in the discussions on ‘ we are learning why we should eat vegetables. We are learning how to grow vege
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The learning kit has developed language for us to discuss and explore other growing plants. This will also lead to research into insects and their affect on plants, positive and negative.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? By growing and nurturing their plants kids became aware of how we get our vegetables and why we need vegetables. In these discussions we made comparisons to humans needs and vegetables needs.
The children loved the opportunity to participate in this activity. They enjoyed planting and watching them sprout. The coded letters were great for the kids and they were very proud of their much improved expertise by number 3. The game was wonderful visual processing activity. Covid lockdowns impacted on our ability to fully participate and has impacted on our ability to measure their growth. The language used for the ‘league’ did not seem quite appropriate for Kiwi Kids, it was difficult to get them fully engaged in the ‘league’ as it was a unknown term. The activities were very well set at Year 2 but they found it difficult to get them enthused about badges and ‘belonging to a league. We will try vegetables to eat next term.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to link this learning experience into science (talking about soil and germination), into our writing (where we wrote about our experiences), into our reading (where we spoke about and deciphered/ cracked codes) and into maths (where we measur
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will continue to have a classroom garden and buy seeds to plant and grow throughout the year. Thank you, this has been a lovely School Kit!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My class (and me!) learned about new vegetables and we have tried to try new vegetables during morning tea and lunch.
My class have had such fun with the Little Garden School kit. They loved the badges and letters which they had to complete. They also loved the code cracker and were able to complete 2 and 3 by themselves after we worked through 1 together (They are 5 and 6 years old). They have been delighted to watch their plants grow and remind me to let them water them every day. A really super School Kit!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? HUGE! Science. Vege planting tied in with seasons. Time in maths. Key competencies of sharing, self management. Writing. Exploring. Oral language
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? seasons and planting Very Hungry Caterpillar growth healthy food in our lunchboxes School garden sustainability
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have learnt about new to them vegetables and the importance of eating veges/fruit etc daily. We have bought the books recommended with this kit and they are fully engaged. We are encouraging a healthy wider range of food in lunchboxes too.
My year 0=2 students are LOVING watching the plants grow. I tell them, just like how they grow in their learning at different speeds, plants do the same. We've learnt a lot about the different veges and herbs and flowers and have spent a morning tasting lots of raw and cooked vegetables. We are very excited to see the growth after the school holidays and look forward to hopefully cooking/tasting some of the veges we have grown before the end of term 4. There is a huge amount of learning here - we'll continue it right throughout term 4 and in all curriculum areas.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit was used for writing and reading.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are getting planter boxes at school so the children will learn about planting re-planting their seedlings when they are ready. They will then have the opportunity to prepare and eat the vegetables once they are ready.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students understand that the vegetables provide them with more ";good"; things for their bodies which help them to learn and grow. The older children in the class were about to read about nutrition and are becoming more aware of the food that they eat
The children have loved joining and being a part of the league. They have involved whānau who have sent their extra seedlings into school for us to add to our collection. They check multiple times each day to see if their plant/flowers have grown. It is very exciting watching them crack the codes. I think the one of the best parts was so far has been getting them to try new vegetables and them finding out that they like them.
