How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We gave our vegetables 'character descriptions' (writing/literacy), it tied in with our new gardens/inquiry focus at our school. Also, our maths referring to measurement/temperature/climate and seasons/when it's the best time to grow etc.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Sustainability
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think it prompted good conversations at home as well as in the classroom.
My Year 3/4 class throughly enjoyed the little garden league. It was timed well with the release in stores and many children have started their own gardens at home too! It was rewarding watching them grow, each morning they would check their progress. The codes were also well suited for our age group. It was a good way to teach them new words e.g. 'bio-degradable' and encourage them to try new vegetables.

The children in my year 3/4 class enjoyed learning about different fruit and vegetables. We were able to try some new recipes with our edible gardens and the kit encouraged the children to learn and try new foods. The codes were a hit and we even wrote some codes for a buddy class. The highlight tho has been caring for and watching our seeds grow.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did science - the parts of seeds and how seeds grow. This linked with writing science diagrams and descriptions.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The kids have taken their seedlings home to nurture over the holidays. If their crop is ready before Xmas they will bring it back to class to share.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We tried a new vegetable each day with our morning tea. The kids were motivated by this.
The students were very motivated by being members of the Little Garden League. The resources were excellent, although the coded messages were too difficult for Year 2s. The main disappointment was the quality of the badges.

We had so much fun with our little garden kit! In was well incorporated well into our reduce recycle and reuse topic for this term! We made recycled planters and compost to be able to plant our little garden in. The students loved the secret messages! We adapted it to our class (new entrant, year 1 and 2) and everyone was a member and each afternoon we explored a little bit about what plants need to grow, the different types of vegetables etc. Such a great kit!! They loved see their seeds sprout!

The Little Garden League school kit was an absolute hit in my year 1 class! It naturally lead our inquiring minds down many different paths. It opened us up to artwork with vegetables, categorising, sorting, writing instructions. The secret messages continued the excitement. The kit was well organised. The plants all sprouted within weeks of planting. The children watered them daily with droppers to work on their fine motor skills.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? we looked at science of a seed growing, wrote stories about veges they had eaten, drew pictures of veges, wrote instructions of how to plant a seed, labelled diagrams, created containers from cardboard to make a mini planter, stories, poems and songs

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? talking about and naming veges and what they have tried. Wanting to grow a vege to eat. They have become interested in the veges I eat at lunch time - asking me if they didn't know the names of them.
The kids really enjoyed the arrival of the kit and the secrecy behind it . They were all very keen to become members and all solemnly took the pledge. They increased their knowledge of veges they could name. The planting of the seeds was fun and every day they would come to school hoping to see the first of the seeds sprouting. Great other resources available on line as well.
