In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit provided many opportunities for Cross-Curricular learning as we linked it into Art lessons, Well-being lessons (healthy eating) and Science. We also did many singing lessons using vegetable songs.

Due to this kit, the children became more aware of the importance of eating healthy vegetables and they were very excited when talking about the different types of vegetables. “The little gardening kits were a brilliant resource in the classroom. I loved the idea of making it a 'secret club' as did the children as the secrecy of joining this special club really got all of the children engaged. The children also loved using the Secret Code Cracker - what a brilliant idea. The children thoroughly enjoyed planting their seedlings and took a keen interest in the different vegetables. Each day when coming to school the children would ask different questions about their seed and their vegetables. This kit definitively gave the children a better understanding of different types of vegetables and their benefits.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have made links to Environmental Education and Sustainability, Literacy, Health &; PE and Te Reo Maori.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I have signed my class up to the Zespri Virtual Adventure starting in Term 4 and the learning we've done about the importance of vegetables to our health and wellbeing will flow on nicely to this focus on physical movement.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? With a wide selection of hands on activities cross-curricula links were made easily and effectively

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Future learning for our juniors would be discussing food to table processes. Such as how does food find its way to our Supermarkets?? Do we need supermarkets?? What ways could we become more sustainable in this particular area??

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Identifying and tasting a variety of fruits and vegetables. Discussions on how they could use these new fruits and vegetables in their weekly menus at home with parents.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Being part of the Enviro Team in schools and participating in activities which may help and promote healthy eating within our communities.

This kit could be very open to cross curricular learning opportunities with Maths - graphing plant growth, Writing -plant diaries, Read

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are a Garden to Table school so planting them in our school garden and watching them grow and using them in GTT to make healthy food from what we grow. Creating our own garden environment for our classroom/syndicate.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Little Garden League made the Children talk about the vegetables they know and have eaten or grown. It increased some children's awareness of how many vegetables and fruits they could eat. We talked a lot about healthy food choices too!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the coded messages in maths and literacy times to support engagement in students that had difficulties in these areas. It was a simple and effective way to engage students.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Measurement, informative writing, home gardening, and birds and insects in our environment.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learning about new vegetables, and exploring what a vegetable is. There are so many and some we had not heard of or tried.

“This was a great resource for my year one students. We all loved working out the coded messages, and the idea that we were the first ones to get to grow the seedlings before they were available. My students enjoyed the idea of joining a club and loved having a 2-teired test to be eligible. We finally got to plant the seedlings into the school garden today and are looking forward to seeing how they have grown after the holidays. One big disappointment was that the badges kept breaking and losing their pins so the students were a bit sad about this. But otherwise, it has been a very enjoyable learning experiences for us all.”

We have done lots of writing about the plants and when applying to be LGL memebers and we have covered a few science AO's in regards to living th

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Future learning will be about continuing to look after the plants as they grow. We can also lead into composting with any scraps and how this completes a full cycle as they go back into the soil to help new plants grow.

“This was an amazing resource. My year 1 nd 2 class loved it and were fully engaged from day one. The story and hook was great and fitted really well into our inquiry and learning through drama approach. The steps were easy to follow and the support resources and activities were great. From this kit we have had really rich writing opportunities and great science exploration of how plants grow and what they do for our environment. To top it all off the children have loved watching their plants grow and taking care of them.”
