In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were very surprised to learn about edible flowers. Each student tried some green lettuces and came for more. In no time my box full of green salad was gone - their favourite snacks

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The missions covered so many areas including maths, reading, writing, code breaking, researching - reading, writing, presenting, the planting included science and environment...

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are now presenting our research projects about our plants, we have also donated our extra seedlings to our school gardening group for planting in our school garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We researched our plants after we planted the seeds and we discussed the different plants and healthy eating :)

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We are continuing with this growing theme through into Term 4 with our topic being weather. Ties in nicely with plant growth. Weather seasons etc

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are continuing into Term 4 with the Gardening theme and growing our seedlings into plants. Hopefully future learning will flow through into the home. We as a syndicate are creating garden boxes as well which will be great to tend to throughout the summ

“Great kit! The kids absolutely loved it. Right from the start they loved guessing what was in the box and then they got hooked on the story! Filling in the application was brilliant. Then the secret codes they just couldn’t get enough. It was so good to see them all rushing into school every day just to check on their pot. Very happy kids when the seeds started sprouting! Hopefully all the seeds will come up! Very clear teaching plan, great videos and other resources that the kids liked. We had lots of fun drawing all the members and learning about different vegetables that we didn’t know about. Also great discussion about eating vegetables and trying them! Only problem was the timing so close to the school holidays. Students have to take plants home and some of them are going away so they will be missing their plants growth. We would have liked to use them in the school garden but the kids didn’t want to leave them at school.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It was great for cross-curricular learning, the children wrote about taking part in the planting and we discussed scientific concepts and healthy eating.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children have taken their seedlings home to replant in their gardens so they will continue to watch them grow. The children also worked together when planting and looking after their seed.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It enabled us to have discussions about vegetables and what we can eat and enjoy.

“The Little Garden Kit was great. The children were really excited to be able to plant their own plants and often checked the guide to see how long it would take for the seedlings to grow. It promoted discussion around the environment and science including things like photosynthesis.”
