In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We wrote instructions for how to plant. We made connections to our Native Bird inquiry
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Trying the foods, long term care for a garden
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The plants are not yet big enough to eat but the kids are talking about trying things they've never previously tried.
Lots of things to engage with the kids. I work with a year 3/4 class, I think it was more suitable for the year 3s than the year 4s in terms of how it was pitched.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kit linked to our overall topic of Sustainability. We have been looking at how we can conserve water and what kinds of plants require more or less water.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our children have created their own gardens here at school. We are looking at succulent gardens as they use less water.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our children strove to learn lots of vergetable and herb names. There was a good buzz around the kinds of vegetables they like to eat.
Our children have enjoyed the buzz of being part of a special club. The learning around gardening has tied in beautifully to our overall topic of Sustainability. The resources and activities have been incredibly easy to use and very engaging for our students.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Maths (measurement), literacy as we wrote stories about what seedling we planted.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My students are going to take their seedlings home this week, plant them and eventually eat them as snacks or add them into cooking. This was a really great resource. Thanks a lot, again!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students gained more awareness about how eating vegetables helps us function the best way possible.
Thank you School kit and New world. We have had a blast learning about vegetables and the important ways to look after them. The whole process was very exciting, getting our seedlings, becoming approved members, getting our badges, cracking the codes etc. A really awesome kit! A minor issue in the scheme of things but the box was hard to use as it wasn't easy to cut out.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As written in the first box I have been able to use the kid for science, literacy, numeracy and Maori.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are going to continue with our garden, so I think we will go down the technology route and bring in health and PE and keeping ourselves healthy. Technology will be food tech - how can we use the vegetables we have on hand in a tasty and healthy way.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As we are yet to reap the rewards of what we've sown it's hard to say if the kit has promoted healthy eating just yet. But we have discussed the information about character and we've looked at their key properties, so tamariki know which is high in Vitami
I have loved this kit! It was my first School Kit and it just happened to tie in nicely to our science unit of Change. We have loved watching our seedlings grow. I have made worksheets so we can keep a track of our plants growth and draw each stage. I have also used this information for maths by getting the kids to order some of the plants (up to 5 at a time) by their growth, then find which plant has grown the most in the shortest amount of time and write me an equation showing this. They also had to make a timeline with our initial information so we could work out which plant would sprout first. We'velearnt the names in Maori, as well as how to ask about each plant in Maori. We have also used the information about each plant for our reading programme. It's been wonderful!
