In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did not start this yet as I will plant them in Term 4. I will be doing writing: write the names of the plants. Reading: read the instructions. Science: parts of a a plant. Math: measuring the plants. Art: drawing our plants.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Links across the curriculum, so exciting, we love it! We just need a spot to plant our seedlings at school. 10/10

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids are aware of a wider range of fruits and vegetables. I needed to buy my own fruit and vegetables and bring them in the classroom so the children could understand and eat them. e.g., mint, radish etc. They are learning where their vegetables come

“It is so exciting! The children are loving it! I followed the instructions. I am not growing the seeds in Term 3, I am starting the seeds in Term 4 after the school holidays. If there was no lockdown I would be starting them earlier. There is a lot of discussion prior to planting them.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Maths (measurement), english (writing) and lots of listening, patience and kindness

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Watching them grow and change. Taking about seasonal change and how it effects gardening etc

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have started this journey and cant wait for them to grow so they can 'try' new vegetables, some they have never heard off.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We extended the activities to integrate science, literacy and art. Reading and writing through and about the kit as well as investigation and learning about the plant life cycle.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we will be building on what we learned from the kit by working in our school garden. We will learn more about healthy eating and learn to prepare some healthy food.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They learned about some new vegetables.

“My class loved this kit! It has them so enthusiastic about growing vegetables and our school garden! They were also really taken with the club concept and especially the coded messages. The letter template at the start of the kit was a really fun way to start the kit and the kids loved finding vege jokes! The whole kit was loads of fun and it had some great integration of literacy throughout as well as generating good vocabulary development opportunities (e.g. germination).”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Our over- riding theme for this year is Change--so it was perfect tie in. We have been doing a lot of Science so it fitted in with that curriculum. It also fitted in with the Health curriculum--Healthy Foods.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Because there were some extra Little gardens we will grow these and then plant in our school garden. This will make it more meaningful for the children and continue to reinforce the idea of growing your own vegetables.

They loved being introduced to the 24 vegetables. The video of Zombies not eating vegetables appealed to them. They have really enjoyed growing their own vegetable and caring for th

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This tied in nicely with our health unit which was food safety. We could talk about using different boards and knives when cutting meat - not to use these same boards and knives when then cutting veges, etc.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Teaching about sustainability - growing veges helps save packaging which helps the environment. Growing veges saves money as we are not spending money on veges we don't need and end up throwing out.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to use this kit as part of our wider NPDL inquiry unit for improving our school environment.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It has been a great launch and a unit that allows you to hang lots of other learning opportunities

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about healthy eating and we have planted the seeds in our gardens. But being younger children, I think the bigger concept of healthy eating can get lost.

I spent some time trying to figure out what I was meant to do and how to bring in other elements. The links to books and videos were amazing and I was able to really use these.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We wrote about our plants. We read books or had books read to us about planting.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? When the plants have fully grown, I am looking forward to having a garden to table type experience with the children.

We haven't actually eaten anything from the seeds as yet as they have not had enough time to grow, but the chn have enjoyed planting them and we picked some other salad ingredients from our garden and chopped them up for a salad.
