In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We learnt to sort vegetables into ones that grow above and below the ground. We learnt Māori names for veges. We measured our seedlings.
We tried vege soup. At home we tried broccoli, kumara, cherries, carrots. We liked vege patch match and we played to practice taking turns and our school values - respect, responsibility, and relationships. We watched our seeds germinate and watered our seedling carefully so that they would grow.

What an amazing learning experience for our tamariki. The kit came with enough information to set it up properly and with lots of ideas. The link with the national advertisement made them aware it was something the whole country was involved in. In the morning they couldn't wait to see how much their plant has grown. We are planning to plant the seedling in our sunny spot in the vegetable garden.
