How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It was good as we could bring it into maths - statistics (graphs) and time.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Our children were fascinated by how long different plants take to grow - we could then teach them how to make a graph to show which plants grow the quickest etc
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children learnt all about vegetables and were introduced to vegetables that they hadn't explored like kale. They also learnt about what a plant needs in order to grow.
What an awesome opportunity this was for our children! They absolutely loved the whole experience. We loved making the post box and the children were delighted to be accepted into the club. They wore their badges with pride! The 'little garden' gift was the cherry on the top! Every day our children excited checked the plants to see which one had grown. They compared sizes and noted how long certain plants took. The resources were amazing and the instructions easy to follow. The children loved the game too. Thank you for such an awesome opportunity!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The kits crossed over to writing - writing about what we did to plant the seeds. The topic also involved a science discussion - what do plants need to grow? Why do we need bees - after growing boridge flowes.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning about the life cycle of plants, the importance and lifecycle of bees, discussing where our food comes from.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students learnt about new vegetables e.g raddish. We discussed how eating healthy is about eating a variety of vegetables. This tied in well with our healthy eating topic from last term.
The students loved the hands on experience and getting to see the changes in the seedlings each day. Seeing the dirt grow and then getting their hands dirty was very exciting. They really enjoyed being apart of club and having special badges. The little gardens led onto a variety of discussions on heathy eating, how plants grow, why we need bees.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Maths: We observed their growth carefully and measured their growth. Science: Observations and recording: They really were careful about they amount of water that was given and the amount of sunlight they needed. Health and Nutrition:
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As I have said, it was very complimentary to our Garden to Table programme. Also, they have grown more seeds and watched them germinate - plants - many of these plants are bee or insect attracting seeds. We also ran an insect focus and learnt a lot about
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have tasted a lot of the vegetables they have grown which they may not have done if not for the club motto Grow Protect Taste. They found out about what nutritional things were in their vegetable or herb and what that was good for.
The Little Garden League was an absolute sensation in our class. It dovetailed well with our Garden to Table focus too. The kids really got into it and loved to wear their badges during active gardening and LGL times. They loved the suspense of waiting for the secrete codes and we are still doing it this term. They have tasted a lot of the vegetables they have grown which they may not have done if not for the club motto Grow Protect Taste. Ka rawe hoki and thanks.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We transferred the seedlings to our class garden so needed to learn lots of Science about the needs of plants. This was a perfect conclusion to our Term 3 inquiry about Healthy Eating and the impact of healthy food on our bodies and minds. Thank you!!! We loved being part of a secret club and were very excited to receive a badge and some secret codes to crack! Our class garden was ready to harvest during Covid-Lockdown so we missed out on eating our broccoli, spinach and spring onions. This was a surprise fresh start for us and we loved getting our own little seedling to plant and nurture. It was exciting to observe the daily changes as our seeds germinated.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The letter writing idea was great for our literacy programme and we also talked about the length of time the seedlings would take to grow - incorporating maths language about time and measurement. I loved how my students were so keen to water them everyda
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children will get to experience some new tastes with the wide range of vegetables that you provided us - thank you. Hopefully they had some interesting discussions at home with their parents and everyone can see how quick and easy it is to grow vegeta
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was great for learning about plants that were new for some of our children. A lot of them already have vege gardens but it was also very interesting for them to learn about the length of time it takes for certain seedlings to germinate compared to othe
Thank you for the great resources. A couple of comments: it was difficult to identify the children's individual plants after they had planted the seeds because the pots were too wet for the stickers. I ended up writing each child's name on the cardboard tray as close to their pot as possible so they wouldn't get mixed up and I wrote their names on the cardboard with the plant information e.g. I wrote Nina next to Chives. The letterbox was really cool and we loved the vege match game.
