In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The obvious areas were health and science but it lent into our procedural writing and maths as well. We were able to link a lot into this.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Life cycles, allergies, cooking, growing plants in different environments

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were more motivated to try new vegetables. They were also more excited about seeing any fruit or vege in their lunchboxes (we googled the way a range of different foods were grown).

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Great writing from inventing their super hero characters using their names and a vegetable. We also wrote procedures. Linked with healthy eating and also how plants grow (science).

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Strong links to Science (health, living world, plant growth, water cycle), Maths (measuring heights, time to grow, volume of water), Writing (process of planting and growing a seed), Reading, (instructions, research).

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The children took their plants home and so are growing their own garden at home and tracking this with photos that they are sharing with school.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Some children had little idea about the garden to plate process of vegetables. This kit promoted wonderful discussions about healthy meals and made them realise how easy it is to grow their own food.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit was great for cross curricular learning, as well as extending our learning into our Forest School experiences. We were able to explore the Maori gods Rongo and Haumia. We also explored cooking vegetables over a campfire and creating stone soup. S

“This kit was an excellent resource for students to get engaged with learning about the different types of vegetables there are as well as growing a vegetable from a seed. Students learnt about the different stages of growing a plant from a seed, the germination process, seedling and then it growing into a plant. Having the ";Little Garden League' was a clever way for also getting the students on board with the learning, and the fun activities that went along with this unit. I'm a teacher that does not have much experience with growing vegetables, and this resource was very helpful for me to provide teaching and learning experiences for my students. This ";Little Garden League"; resource has led into our junior school's next inquiry learning of ";Growing a Sunflower"; with science, and ";What is the financial costs of having a flower garden"; in financial literacy.”
