In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We learned about the life cycle of plants and how to keep them healthy and strong.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Numeracy - statistics. Graphing how long seeds took to germinate etc. Science- life cycles, what living things need. Literacy - journals and descriptions.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The coding was a great example of a cross curricular activity. We have been learning Maori words for the parts of plants. We have been writing about plants and doing oral language activities around our plant topic.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be continuing to develop our school garden next year - so this topic will remain part of the teaching and learning programme for the new Year 4's.

“As always the Little Garden plant pots are a great success with students. This term our topic is focused on our school garden, so the school kit has been particularly relevant. Students enjoyed completing and earning their badge as part of the the LGL. They are still proudly wearing the badges. Each day, the first thing they did upon entering the class was to check the plants - a very motivating topic.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This experience was able to cross through all curriculum areas with ease. The science aspect covered the life cycle of a plant, math with measurement and many others..

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Research development..our children are now keen to investigate how plants can positively impact our environment, earth, people and poverty rates. Thank you.

“It was anticipation stations with students excited to take guesses surrounding the contents of the box. This had high engagement immediately. A big tick for ‘mystery’. The resources themselves were fantastic, students loved using the pledge cards and decoding the secret messages. Badges were fabulous to add the importance of ‘membership’. Of course the little garden seedlings themselves were fabulous. One element I would like to point out is that when students were creating their own codes to display, I had to enlarge a pledge card A LOT of times to get a usable size code. It would have been great to have this sheet available to print off.”
