How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit tied in nicely with our inquiry topic of life processes. Learning how things grow and survive and how we can help them to thrive. It was also great for maths and we compared the growth of the plants, measured them and graphed the results. There w
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We went on to look at how worms help the soil that the plants need to grow and look at our school worm farm.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids learnt a lot about vegetables and fruits. Most of them didn't know anything about herbs so it was great to have those included as well. We had a tasting afternoon and they discovered that if they were brave and just tried it most of them actually
This was an awesome kit. My y1/2 class were so excited to see what was in the box. The resources were high quality and everything you needed was provided. The kids were so pleased to be able to take their own plant home at the end and lots have kept me updated with how they are growing. Lots of them collected more seedling kits from our local New World when their parents were shopping.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit provided numerous opportunities for literacy, maths and art in our classroom. The students loved to write letters to the vegetables, write about their vegetable growing and measure and compare the growth of each seed daily.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This has provided a great start to our new healthy eating focus for our whole syndicate. We will keep the resources and use these to teach again.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit helped to teach my students the names of each vegetable and how to eat them.
My classroom absolutely loved the Little Garden League School kit! They literally believed that the vegetables were sending them letters each week and absolutely loved watching their seeds grow. So much learning happened throughout this experience and I am so grateful for all of the resources provided.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The coding was a great example of a cross curricular activity. We have been learning Maori words for the parts of plants. We have been writing about plants and doing oral language activities around our plant topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be continuing to develop our school garden next year - so this topic will remain part of the teaching and learning programme for the new Year 4's.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students have become more aware of the variety of plants that they can eat and the parts of the plants they eat. When students cultivate their own crops (and later on add them to their cooking/baking) they are more likely to try new foods. This kit has al
As always the Little Garden plant pots are a great success with students. This term our topic is focused on our school garden, so the school kit has been particularly relevant. Students enjoyed completing and earning their badge as part of the the LGL. They are still proudly wearing the badges. Each day, the first thing they did upon entering the class was to check the plants - a very motivating topic.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to do some reading and writing around the topic of vegetables and healthy eating. And we even did some statistics to find out what kinds of vegetables children in our classroom were eating.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children are now aware of the different kinds of vegetables, some they had never heard of before! They were excited to try new vegetables and what things they could use them in.
We had lots of fun in the classroom learning about the Little Garden League. Children loved to learn about the vegetables and look after their very own member of the gang!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to find books for reading about growing vegetables and the life cycle of plants so they could read what they needed and apply it to their own vegetable or identify what cycle it was at in it's life.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? How we can be in charge of growing some vegetables in our school and how we as a class can look after them.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were able to recognise how easy it is to grow their own vegetables at home and how they can eat healthy things that they have grown themselves.
This kit works perfectly for our school as we are a green gold enviro school. Students were able to bring their prior knowledge to this kit about vegetables and growing them. They loved having their own plant to look after and were so excited when they got to take them home to show their families.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used it as a health topic and a science topic with germination and growth cycle of a plant but beyond that it really didn’t lend itself to any other topic.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We talked about how the children could plant their own vegetable garden at home and they took their plant home with them before the holidays. We have a vegetable garden at school so now the children have a better understanding of what is happening as the
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It opened up the discussion of what vegetables children had tried and ones they hadn’t. We talked about how important it was to try new things and then decide whether we liked it or not.
I teach New Entrants (5 year olds) and they loved planting their seeds. It was a great learning topic for us as well. We learnt about what it took to make the plants grow and then we learnt about the stages a plant goes through when it is growing. The children loved watering the plants and then watching and looking for when the first signs of the plants coming through the soil. The only thing that created a challenge was the little signs that said what the name of the plant was became very soggy and ripped due to watering etc. I wonder if these could be made more durable.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Living world, science, health and well-being - linking vegetables to providing energy.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Garden to table with our community gardens.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were able to see link from the seed, plant and then vegetables that they recognise on their sandwiches and dinner plates at home.
The children were very excited to grow their little gardens. They rushed to look each day to see if they had grown. The code was appropriate for some of the children but many needed support to complete and then help to read the message. They had an opportunity some weeks later to grow more seeds and as part of the garden to table programme have become a lot more engaged with our school garden and what is growing.
