How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We are in a Year 0/1 space, so looking at a seed and then imagining it become a big vegetable is quite difficult. However, they grew in confidence as the plants got bigger.
Our children came alive using this kit in the classroom. They loved seeing their plant grow across the weeks. We did lots of things in class about the plants like write stories, draw pictures and look up what our different plants were going to look like once that had grown. It was a real celebration of all things spring!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are able to identify what is healthy and what is not and also why we need to eat healthy. We have seen some improvement in eating of the school lunches, such as trying coleslaw and the trail mix.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Playing the game helped students, but we also looked at what different vegetables each culture uses such as Daikon, okra etc. Unfortunately we did not get to carry this one step further which was to have our families bring in international dishes for us a
this was a great kit but we did not receive all the badges so in the end opted to just grow the plants and learn more about the vegetables and healthy eating. We incorporated this kit into our science of plants unit. One of the things that students found hard to appreciate was how long some vegetables take to grow. Hopefully some of the vegetables will be able to be used next term e.g popcorn.
