What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We had many opportunities to teach about the LGL through our literacy program. How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? After we introduced the LGL we did a prior knowledge scan to see how much children already knew and which vegetables they had eaten before. It was very insightful to see the range of different vegetables that kids had never heard, seen or tried.
We were lucky enough to have received this kit a few years ago and the children really enjoyed it. So when I saw the clues for the secret kit I was sure it would be something along the same lines and I was thrilled. The timing of this couldn’t have been at a more appropriate time. This year our focus started with wellbeing, followed by bugs and insects and caring for them. Then we naturally led into growing and caring for plants and trees in term 3. So when this kit was announced it was the perfect match. We loved having the hard copy and soft copy of the resources available. As we are a digital school we often use a tv during whole class learning. Feedforward: The letter box was a bit tricky to cut due to the sturdiness of the box. Have vegetables children will be likely to have access to/have at home

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Great.
Our tamariki have loved learning about and caring for their plants. It’s great to be able to have them hands on from planting the seeds, Nurturing the seedlings and finally planting them out in our school vegetable garden. It gives them a great idea of”paddock to plate” and we will harvest the end products as they are ready. We have also just planted 40,000 corn seeds in our school paddock for a school fundraiser for our little school of 29 students so they will also be learning lots out there.

Once again a very well resourced and thought out kit to use within our school programme. The online resources are very user friendly and the activities included in the kit made for exciting learning opportunities for the tamariki.
