What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? As we only had 1 kit in our MLE, we added the activities to our 'can do' during each teacher's literacy programme. Students began the germination of their pots during Inquiry. We also had Te Reo activities and science activities about growing in our rota

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I'm sorry this was not part of our inquiry. We will keep the resource to use at another opportunity. Thankyou for the kit, we have had fun and learnt how to care for plants.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We didn't use the kit for this purpose as it was not part of our Inquiry focus. We used the vegetables indentifcation for writing based on the picture book 'The Day the Plants fought back' Some literacy groups had access to game from their 'can dos'.
As we only had 1 kit in our MLE of 63 children, we added the activities to our 'can do' during literacy programme. Our local New World provided further plant pots so that every student took a seedling home. We completed the kit with literacy activities. We didn't use the kit for a healthy eating focus, as this was not part of our Inquiry focus Tūrangawaewae - the place we stand Greenacres school. We are celebrating 50 years since our school was built.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The tamariki learnt more about growing our own vegetables. They were more willing to try new foods when in a class setting, but it's hard to measure how much their awareness improved. It definitely opened up discussions about vegetables though.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was new for some of the tamariki to see vegetables grow, so this was great.
The tamariki loved the Little Garden League! It timed in well with Spring growing. They especially loved the 50ml measuring and the transfer to bigger pots.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most of the class knew which each vegetable was already, but it was interesting for them to see the difference in how each of the plants looked while they were growing.
The plants are excellent, the class really enjoyed planting them in their pots. They also really enjoyed watching them grow, and how different plants grew at different rates. The story that went with the plants was great too.

This was a big hit for my new entrant kids! They love the fact that they are growing a plant themselves and enjoy seeing the seedling grow every day. Checking on the seedling is the first thing in the morning when they come to school. They have been so responsible with the watering as well! I still have some spares and will definitely do this with some new students next year!
