In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our children took some of the plants home to plant in their home gardens and feedback from parents was that they loved how much the children had learnt.

Absolutely loved this kit. My class loved growing and learning about the variety of plants. Was awesome!

Fine motor with puzzles we provided to link to the vegetables. We linked in te reo māori of the vegetable names too. We added the chiv

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Art - we drew still lives of vegetables Writing - we wrote instructions for planting and looking after veggies Maths - we measured the garden beds and worked out how many rows and columns of plants we could plant.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children are keen to try the vegetables as soon as possible! A couple of parents have reported their children want to plan veggies at home to eat.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They were keen to identify the plants from their leaves. It got them interested in observing plants.
There was a decent variety, the materials that came with it were colourful, attractive and informative. The students' interest in vegetables, growing things and healthy eating were piqued by learning about and planting vegetables.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Lots of children had already used the New World little gardens and were able to talk about the plants that they had.
Our class loved this kit. Plenty of seedling kits, and the class loved watching them grow so quickly.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This was part of a whole term focus on growing plants. Fitted in fabulously.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of discussion was had about what children’s experiences were with different types of vegetables. Discussion around how to eat them and what herbs were for etc.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Lots of variety within the kit. Children loved comparing their plants as some sprouted earlier than others. Lots of talk about putting them into their vegetable gardens at home. Yet to see the complete growth.
This kit is was fabulous! Simple instructions for kids to grow with great success. The game has been a huge hit and has introduced children to the name of unknown plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? At brain break time they all go for fruit or vegetable now. Before it was cake/ biscuits.

My Year 1/ 2 class was thrilled to get the gardens and start them growing inside. They weeded them, watered them and then to their horror people let their dogs come into the school and dig them up leaving poo everywhere! The only plants to survive are the corn plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are going to make vege soup at the end of the term and the class are very excited about this so fingers crossed they try it and like it!

The class have absolutely loved this kit! There was a lot of excitement, especially when we first started up the club and they got their badges, and of course when the plants began to grow! We have linked the kit to a science unit so it was the perfect opportunity for some further learning. Thanks!
