How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I think the children are able to recognize commonly used vegetables easier. They found it harder to learn the vegetables they were not familiar with and do not encounter regularly.
The unit was good and it engaged the children well. They really loved the secret mission aspect to it. The quality of the resources included in the kit were also very good with the code crackers providing a good challenge for the kids while not being too hard (even at 5 years old). Some of the plants did not grow/took a very long time to sprout which was a bit disappointing for the children who were watching their classmates' plants grow rapidly. It could be an idea to have a smaller range of fast growing vegetables with a high sprout rate, rather than the large range that was provided. But overall a really good kit!

Very high interest kit, students loved hands-on element of planting and then observing changes. They were all very excited to take their plants home and continue to report on their growth. Also enjoyed codes cracking and being given badge. Learning vegetable names was fun using the card game.

Great excitement and student involvement in planting, watering and monitoring their plants. Lots of interest from other students and teachers because we had our plants in the window. Lots of classes interested for next year. Parents sent me photos of their plants that grew bigger at home and of other vegetables children were growing at home.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This kit offered students who do not know much about plants to become better at recognising what a plant is. We were able to bring in some plants the students didn't already know about to supplement these new plant discoveries.
Little Garden League was a super fun and engaging way to get my students interested in the process of plant growth. The students thoroughly enjoyed learning about new vegetables and herbs, as well as how they grow. This kit acted as a starting point to so much new knowledge. I look forward to taking part in the Little Garden League next time!
