In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think once the vegetables have grown and they can have a taste of them it will improve their awareness. It is great to see them talking about the different vegetables.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was great for them to see that there are many types of vegetables. A lot of them they had never heard of. The kids were very engaged when playing the matching game.

“The resource was great as every child received their own little garden. It was also a hands-on activity for the kits. I also loved that the tāmariki went home and spoke to their whanau about the vegetable they were growing.”

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It helped make the links that fruit and vegetables are grown and these are what we eat in our fruit/vegetable breaks.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? No change in bringing healthy food from home but it has encouraged them to try new foods.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Not much at all unfortunately.

“My children loved the little gardens but it would be great to have something in the kit to be able to move them into a space where they can grow more. We have a garden outside but the children wanted them in class so a planter box of some sort would be amazing to be able to keep them”

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are more aware and are also aware of foods impact on their environment, e.g. plastic packaging vs vege garden

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They improved a lot and really enjoyed the snap cards to practice their vege names.

“We really enjoyed watching the seedlings grow and the students enjoyed cracking the codes as we progressed through the stages.”

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It got them all engaged and made eating vegetables a cool thing to do. Plus the magic of seeing the seedlings grow.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They really enjoyed discussing the different veges aand herbs. And then watching them start to germinate and grow, watching the differences.
