What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We integrated the idea of vegetables/gardening through reading, writing and maths. It became the focus of our reading texts for a few weeks and we wrote recipes, how to grow texts, observational writing all based around the plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were engaged in growing the vegetables, many continued this on to purchase seedlings and plant at home. Parents sent in photographs of how well the plants were doing. Students became hyperfocused on fruit/veg and talked about it at eating times.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Many children were introduced to new vegetables. We were able to read, write, taste and talk about them. It certainly enhanced our knowledge base in this area and provided opportunities for students to share vegetables from their cultures.
What a fantastic opportunity we had to grow vegetables. The theme was engaging the students were excited by the idea of a club etc. It was easy to differentiate and include all in the class. Thank you for the amazing resources and planning. A tired teacher's brain would struggle to come up with such effective activities.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Took a while to realise what vegetables were what as 5 year olds don’t have much idea.
The kit engaged the children and encouraged them to care for plants. The fact they got something worthwhile to take home was great and the feedback from parents was awesome.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children all loved growing plants and are continuing at home. They seem to be keen to eat them.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Not sure as we didn't get to that stage. Some of the more common ones but they might already have known those. As we didn't really see the finished product some of the less well known veges would still be unknown.
New to this and found it hard to work out exactly what it was. because the kits arrived late and I couldn't follow what was happening easily, we did not have as much time to do as hoped. Used the last 4 weeks of term and sent the seedlings home with the children to plant.
