What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We needed to be super organised with the planting, ensuring there was water (not too much) as well as little sticks with names on - as these went home once they sprouted - lots of oral language, reading the instructions etc

The children really enjoyed this kit. We worked together with our Year 6,7,8 buddies to plant our seeds. What an awesome time of chatting and sharing while this happened!

We introduced our little gardens to our 5 year old's with our buddy class. They planted them together in pairs which was a great time for them to share conversation about the vegetables and to help each other with the process of planting them. They have since been growing in our classroom and a few have already been taken home to plant. This has been a great experience overall and our students are more aware of healthy eating and how easy it is to do it yourself.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We wrote about our plants. We kept a diary of when plants sprouted. We also conducted experiments with the seeds to discover what elements were important to ensure growth. Next time we would measure and graph the growth.

Engagement was high as usual when completing this work. The children love to grow things and are becoming knowledgeable about seeds, how they grow and conditions best to make plants grow. Sorry my photos won't load.
