How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The pictures were good. We've used the cards in a game and this has created conversations about vegetables we've recognised, tasted, enjoyed and ones we didn't know.
Thank you for this amazing kit for our tamariki. Thanks for the resources, the prompts and community with wonderful ideas. Our 5 year olds enjoyed planting their own seedlings. We set up a nice area for them and have enjoyed watching them grow. It created a good stepping stone to learn about living things. This has gone on to extend their understanding of where vegetables come from and how we can grow our own vegetables at home.

Kit was well organised and really easy for the students to access and use. The kit worked in with our school garden to table programme and sparked interest into how the vegetables that we use in our cooking grow.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It's always good for our kids to learn where food comes from, and to experience fresh, healthy food rather than processed. It has definitely opened some kids up to the idea that veggies can be tasty as well as good for us.

My class had a lovely time planting their seeds and watching them grow. It has turned into a bit of a competition to see whose plant is growing the fastest!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children learnt some new vegetables thanks to the founding members and the matching game. Once our seedlings are more mature and producing vegetables it will help us to identify more.
The Little Garden League School Kit we received was wonderful. Tamariki were very engaged as they got to join a club and receive a badge and seedling of their own. They looked after the seedlings together, taking turns to water them. We all enjoyed chanting 'Grow, Protect, Taste!' and the children had fun spotting others in the club with badges on. The kit provided some great ideas for getting other people around the school involved, making it all the more meaningful. The matching game included was great and is now part of our program during numeracy and literacy. The kit fitted in perfectly with our inquiry of creating a community garden at school.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was great for my students. We did the test of naming 10 vegetables to be able to fill out the application form. Students knowledge of different vegetables was shared around the class and we had a focus on learning names in te re Māori as well.
My students absolutely loved creating their application letters and having them picked up by a vegetable member. They were so excited to crack codes and plant vegetables. We are just about to finish the unit with a taste test and receive our badges at the end of this week.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are really looking forward to trying our veges once they are ready for harvest, some who accompany parents on supermarket trips have been spotting and suggesting new veges for the family to try.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Great! To gain membership they had to name all the vegetables on one of the game cards and because of the diversity of veg they really did have to think hard!
Enjoyed this kit, kids loved the club side of the challenge and sharing their knowledge with whanau and encouraging them to grow at home too. They loved coming in each day to see what had germinated and measuring the daily growth. Also interesting to make observations as to what was growing better in certain parts of the classroom - darker/lighter/warmer etc.
