In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were eager to have as many tasting sessions as possible and enjoyed rating the flavours using a face system. :slightly_smiling::neutral_face:☹️
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A huge impact ... we identified the plants we knew and learnt new names for the unfamiliar ones. The card game was a hit and helped with instant recall of vegetable names. Very fun
The Little Garden kit was an exciting, stimulating, hands-on way to get children excited about planting seeds, looking after them, learning about gardening and the importance of vegetables and trying new vegetables that children may not have tried before. It also provided a team building experience by being part of the club.

My year 2 class loved everything about this kit. We all achieved success with our plants flourishing in the classroom windowsill. They enjoyed filling in and posting their application forms. The Vegetable Patch game is a classroom favourite (they have invented their own rules for this one!) Nest week they are taking the plants home to share with their whānau.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit generated excitement about vegetables we were familiar with, as well as discovering new ones.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We played some fun Kahoots where we identified fruits and begetables.
There were plenty of resources for the whole class. They really enjoyed the anticipation of cracking the code, and discovering what our kit was about. I had other teachers wear the badges while on playground duty, and the students from my class loved seeking them out and getting a small reward. We were fortunate enough to have a small garden that we could transfer our seedlings into, so overall the class had a great time. My only negative is not knowing what the kit was about before it arrived. I feel I could have planned a bit better, prepared our garden (it's since become overgrown with plants that were already in there before we planted). If I had known I could have made sure to secure a class garden early, completely emptied (transferred the original plants to another garden) and given my class their own plot to really engage with the kit. I felt like I was always making decisions on the fly as the kit was being used.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were more curious and felt ownership over their particular vegetable. Some were very keen to stick to what they knew, carrots. But other's were keen on the unknown. It helped developed knowledge of different vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We were able to go into the school garden and identify the vegetables growing there. It's normally run by senior children, so our juniors loved exploring the garden.
I love the little garden kit. The kids are very engaged and love growing their own vegetable plant.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We are still working on this one, this term so not yet sure.
The students are always excited to learn about how a plant grows and then observe their own plant growing. When students grow their own 'food', they are more willing to taste new foods.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Greatly and they have engaged their families as well and have planted 'extra' vegetables. There has also been a lot more healthy options in the lunchboxes.
A very engaging kit that hooked the children into learning. We used the kit as a starter and the children cared for their plants beautifully culminating in them taking them home and continuing to grow them. We also do numerous experiments and planted other things, made compost and now this term are continuing and then focusing on bees and the great job they do.
