In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think students were already aware of healthy eating and the benefits, still coming to understand the nutritional side of things.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They came to recognise more vegetables than before and commented on whether they were eating them at home or could see them when they went into the supermarket.
Students really enjoyed the mystery agent theme and loved cracking the clues. Potting and seeing the Little Garden plants grow was a hit and they ran in every morning to see if their plant had gotten any bigger. Clues were pitched just right for our age group, with collaboration coming to the fore for those that cracked them quickly.

My tamariki loved participating in this kit. From the get go, they were engaged and excited to potentially be a part of the Little Garden League. We have had so many opportunities to research, create art, write, explore and observe everything to do with plants and vegetables. Students enjoyed getting 'missions' from Headquarters for them to complete. Especially, the vegetable fact posters and Giuseppe Arcimboldo artwork. I loved the idea of integrating everything together to support the kit. We are still growing our seedlings and have an Enterprise market day in 4 weeks. Our product will be painted pot plants which tamariki will repot their seedlings into. It has been such a successful few weeks and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching my tamariki engage is such relevant, authentic learning.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was good for students to see classmates recommending different vegetables to try. We had a good discussion on why veggies are good for you.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It didn't really have too much of an impact. I think we could have covered a bit more on what the veggies would look like fully grown.
This school kit was a nice little activity for our Year 2 hub (3 classes with kits). We used the kit mainly as part of an extended reading and writing session. It was nice to have the kit with all of the things we needed to launch the lesson. The kids loved that the veggie gang had the names of some of their classmates.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I would hear my children tell their parents all the time that they wanted veges for dinner. It was great to see. Thank you
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? My children are new entrants and we live in a very low socio economic area where a lot of children don't get veges every day. It was good seeing that at the beginning children could only identify 2 or 3 veges could recognise 6-10 by the end
Our little gardens got disrupted with term break so it wasn't as successful as it has been in the past.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have used the vegetables from our garden to make a number of different salads - at times using up to 10 different vegetables in a stir fry too.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? When we go to our raised beds, the children are able to identify spinach, strawberries, leeks, silver beet and beet root. Not all of these were in the little gardens but more were. The matching game that came with the pack has been well used.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed planning the little gardens with a number of different people. We had Grandparents help us and volunteer gardeners who come into the school. They loved the display and found the posting idea enticing but difficult to manage as they are unable to read or write just yet.

Loved this kit. It had lots of goodies included and we were very excited to unpack the kit. There were enough activities to keep us busy and excited through out. The children especially like the crack the code messages. Our plants are thriving in our school vege garden and we can see a lasting impact on the children. Thanks for another awesome kit! Can't wait to see what is available next year.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We were looking at healthy and litter less lunches so this supported the topic we were doing.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Quite tricky for 5 year olds to identify the seeds - they needed big pictures to show what they would look like when they had grown. By the looks of some that have sprouted the name tags have got muddled so we have now planted them out in the school garde
I must apologise for not being in contact earlier. Unfortunately I broke both my arms and had the last 4 weeks of term off. The reliever did the best she could but was not really a gardener! I think the program is worthwhile from the little I did. I have answered the questions based on what the reliever told me.
