How successful was this kit in building student recognition of vegetables?
How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had a taste testing of vegetables and all children had a taste of a different vegetable. Children have been noticing vegetables in each others lunchboxes.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Many tamariki had limited knowledge of vegetables and it has definitely increased.
We had such a great time of learning about the plants and vegetables. The vegetables are growing and each day our tamariki use their noticing muscles to see if any changes have occurred over night. The absolute excitement has come from notcing vegetables around them and seeing lots of different people are in the club. We strategically chose books that had vegetables somewhere in them and children love reading and finding the vegetables- it has increased interest in independent 'reading' looking at books and really using their notcing muscles. The spot it game of vegetables has been played and played amongst the children with once again a focus on using their noticing muscle.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some students were able to talk about the different vegetables as they do a lot of planting at home. It was a new experience for lots of the students as they thought that vegetables come from supermarkets.
Students loved the idea of planting their own little garden. They were excited to see what plants they had got. They wanted to take them home so that they could see them grow over the holidays and share the experience with their family. Is a great way to get students interested in growing their own food and to see where the products in the Supermarkets come from.
