What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Science, learning how plants are phototropic and will orient themselves towards the light. Their application involved writing so good links to literacy. We linked it to our weekly poem about seeds growing into plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? At this point they haven't grown into vegetables, so we haven't had the chance to taste any vegetables. But I'm sure it would likely make them more adventurous to try the vegetables once they have grown.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We haven't got to the vegetable stage yet, as the plants are still small, but they have been talking about the different plants and checking the names on the labels. The game has helped them to learn new vegetable names.
My class have been so excited watching their little garden grow. Some have also been inspired to plant gardens at home. The little garden kit was easy to use and the children enjoyed applying for their place in the club and receiving their badges. They have all be enthusiastic about watering and taking care of the plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The learning around this didn't really come from the kit, rather the teaching I did separately.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A lot of them learnt about veggies they weren't familiar with before. They could regonise them by the characters and the specific images provided but didn't translate as well to real life veg and the variation that comes with it.
Most of my kids had done this before so it was harder to get engagement and pull out new learning from it.

My new entrants had lots of fun planting the little garden and most bought in to the Club. However several of my older ones moved classes at the end of Term 3 and for my brand new children it was a little over their heads. We taste tested veges and talked about how plants grow.

This was a kit for which mostly suited my y1/2 level. The club house membership had to be made very easy but it worked. The children had a ball planting and caring for their plants and then taking them home or planting into the school garden.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? With our younger ones it was great oral language based where they asked and answered lots of questions about the different vegetables. Some of which they or I hadn't ever heard of before. We played 'guess what vegetable' games using the cards in the pack.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? In terms of the healthy eating aspect, it linked perfectly with our Athletics training combining healthy eating and exercise. I would say that it has had some impact but hard to know really. We did talk a lot about fueling our bodies with healthy food.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Hugely, for some it was the first time they had been exposed to such vegetables. We set up a class vege shop for role-playing and it was great to hear them using the new vege names they had learned. Art - sketching of vegetables, observational drawings Le
Great hands-on kit
