How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Amazingly the children are super engaged with the vege patch match game.
This kit was very popular with the children. They have loved learning about vegetables and plants, which linked really well to prior learning about the living world. The kit is also excellent to link to the ongoing Te Whare Tapa Wha focus within our classroom over the year. The children enjoyed the code cracker tasks and we did quite a lot of the videos and extra tasks added in. We will continue to revisit as our seedlings grow and turn into plants over Term 4. This is the second time I have done this kit and if offered again I would absolutely take it up for a third time.

We love the Little Garden school kit for our year 1s. The resources were great and there were lots of great items in this kit. This is the second time I have used this kit and it was fantastic. Due to limited time I was not able to make the cardboard "Mailbox" As we found this was quite fiddly last time. Overall a great kit.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Using the game helped identify some more vegetables, but this is an area we will continue to work on. Common vegetables were identified, not so common were not.
The entire contents of the Little Garden 22 Kit has been utilised by our classroom, and will continue to be used into the 2023 school year. We have learnt lots about what plants need to survive and even though we have had some plants not grow, we have figured out a possible why as to the reason for the plants not thriving. We have learnt lots of new rich vocabulary around seeds such as 'strike' and nurture. Learning about what flowers can and cannot be eaten is something we are going to look at later. We are thinking of a way to ensure our plants get watered over the long holiday break so the whole school can enjoy our garden's contents next year.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Always a tentative topic - kids were definitely keen to eat their plants when they were/are at full growth
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Kids began to make links between growth process and what we see in supermarkets
The variety of the kit was excellent - it gave kids a chance to be exposed to new plants (our local area was fairy repetitive, they loved seeing the popcorn!) The kit was as usual comprehensive and all encompassing, clever use of the box to become a mailbox. I didn't fully understand the concept of applying for a plant when it was fairly lucky dip on what you got, easy fix to just look inside the boxes but it was just a thought.
