In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Many students had no idea where these vegetables came from. They learned a lot about the two vegetables they selected and what the benefits of them were.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This had a great impact, and I wish I had time to do more with tasting the vegetables. We made learning vegetables in te reo Māori one of the conditions of Club House entry.
Awesome little kit. Students researched and presented a report on two vegetables each. Many parents have commented that it sparked their interest and conversations about vegetables at home. I originally enrolled in this kit to support a strengths based programme for a particular student. His family helped us to replant and care for the seedlings in the holidays. We have now weeded and just today, planted out the classroom gardens with his support. So neat to allow students to share their knowledge and strengths in such an authentic way. Thank you!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Already pretty good but were excited when they had food in their lunch box that we were also growing.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Knew some of them already. Had a discussion about some.
Such a fun and interactive kit! Students love the fact they can grow their own seed and be part of a club. The kit leads to a lot of science discussions and extra learning. We were able to start a gardening club using the kit as well as in the classroom.

Fantastic kit that helps the children learn about different plants. Gives them an opportunity to take something home to grow and learn with as a family after they have learnt at school

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kit allowed us to dip into health, science and te reo māori.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our tamariki are keen to now try out different veges - we have noticed an increase in the interest and number of veges in children's lunchboxes.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? As the second, true leaves developed we were able to begin to relate what the children were growing to the produce they might find in the supermarket - this has helped our tamariki improve their ability to identify a variety of vegetables.
Our tamariki were so excited to grow their own food! We have been able to fill a garden bed with a variety of vegetables that the children can now identify. We have not yet harvested our produce but are looking forward to it. The kit is full of everything we needed and it was super helpful to begin growing our plants in Term 4 when the weather had warmed up - perfect timing! There has been learning from both the kit and one another - what an amazing resource :-)

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This has increased students willingness to try new vegetables. Students are now brining more vegetables in their lunchbox as a result.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This was surprising as I assumed lost children could identify most vegetables. They now know what each vegetable looks like and once grown they will be able to taste them too.
Our students loved this kit. They enjoyed taking care of their little gardens and have now transplanted them into our large raised gardens. The learning around how to take care of them was great.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We didn't really go this route , I'm sure we could have maybe earlier in the year.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Enjoyed it, we made wanted posters for the veges.
I found the activities quite basic, I think something could have been more created to be more suitable to different year levels for convenience .I loved using the online platform to give me ideas to generate activities. The students definitely enjoyed the growing process and loved seeing the soil expand. They loved researching the veges they knew nothing about.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We let the kids pot them in our Discovery time (Play based learning for our older students) and there was a lot of discussion about what each vegetable was and if they knew what it was. The code sheets we used like a quiz...they brought their sheet up and

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think they will enjoy trying their own vegetables and look forward to them being ready to eat. Most will be harvested in the holidays so hopefully we will be able to distribute them to families.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They didn't know many of the vegetables at all this time . We got some of the vegetables from the supermarket and they had a try of them. Kale was not a favourite.
My timing was not great. The kids were so keen to get them out and growing. Unfortunately we didn't think about the fact the holiday break was coming up so I had to take them all home and nurture them over the two week break. The kids did a great job up until then but some plants didn't make it (I am not the greatest gardener). So I had to replace the ones we lost and pretend they had grown over the holidays. Some of the plants will not be ready until the summer break so the caretaker will get the benefit of them. We had to research some of the vegetables as they were new to them. We don't have a New World in our town so the Little Garden idea was great. The code sheets were awesome and they even made their own to share with each other.
