How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most of my students knew the basic vegetables. The herbs were a bit harder. This kit has been a great introduction.
We started this in Term 3 to coincide with our topic of Kaitiakitanga. My 5 year old students were very excited and loved potting up their small plants and learning more about their chosen vegetable/herb. A small growing table was established and the plants were popped there. Tamariki were very excited when their pottle started to show signs of life. This has been a great introduction to growing for my little ones and we will now focus on starting our Maraakai with the new knowledge that we have learnt. So thank you.

My wee NEW ENTRANTS loved this kit. We changed up the planning to suit our needs but involved LOADS of exploring the outdoors and engaging our senses. We used the kits in conjunction with our inquiry learning and Tiaki learning. We have been learning how to care for the personal belongings around us, this extends to the natural world and the plants and trees. So learning how a plant grows and getting the opportunity to actually plant and care for it has been a tremendous learning experience.
