How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I found that a lot of students had not heard of some of the vegetables and most had not heard of the herbs. This was a great way to introduce the students to new vegetables.
Our New Entrant class loved this kit. We had a lot of discussions around healthy eating and why it is important. We created brainstorms of different ways/recipes that we could use for the different vegetables. I liked how all of the activities were very engaging and how the backstory created a really great hook.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think it encouraged them to notice the range of vegetables that are out there. It inspired them to plant more into their gardens at home. Changed some of their attitudes about vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I heard students use the name of the vegetable they had planted and what their friends had planted. I set up some mini challenges with images of vegetables and fruits. One of them was were I placed images of vegetables and got the children to sort them.
All of my class were highly engaged. I think the things are enjoyed the most was cracking the codes and watching their seedlings grow. Mondays were the most exciting for them after they came back from the weekend. I have a class of 20 students but the extra seedlings and badges were very helpful as we did come across some small problems e.g pots breaking because they were watered too much, pots being tipped over etc. So thank you for the extras! It was very versatile and easy to integrate into other curriculum areas e.g writing and maths. I loved listening to the children talk about their own veggy gardens at home and hope it inspired those who needed to put in a little more effort into theirs at home too.
