How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? They are know able to recognise more than they did before the unit.
We love this kit as it fits in with our gardening topic. The students enjoy having their own plant. We have planted the seedlings in our school garden. The activities are a great way to get students involved in gardening and showing care. It is also great for them to be introduced to vegetables they haven't seen before.

The promotion with the letter application, letter box, pledges and badges were so engaging for our juniors...they were hooked!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There were some suggestions for cross-curricular learning. There was not enough time to complete all of them. Some opportunities for literacy learning and science learning as well.

Great resources for the little garden that fit perfectly into our inquiry topic around community and gardening. Students loved planting the seedlings and were curious about the vegetables/ seeds they were planting. The organisation of online resources was confusing and it was hard to find things at times. Some video resources were very sophisticated for younger students (for example the video about photosynthesis) so another more age appropriate video was found online. The code crackers were very fun for the kids

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The students already came with a vast knowledge of popular vegetables but it was great getting them to recognise the ones that we were growing.
The kit was amazing! Students loved it and thought many did this kit in their younger years. I was able to tweak how I introduced it to ensure student engagement was high. The students loved learning new things and I am not excited to try this again with another class when it is next available.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Our children kept identifying vegetables which they thought they found growing at bush school. A huge amount of oral language and debate came from this. As well our children have a very secure knowledge of living v non living and what plants need to grow

Our children loved looking after their seedlings. This year they got to take them home but our school is developing vegetable gardens and green hs for next year. They loved the badges.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A great deal. The children looked at the vegetables daily and compared the growth of their plant to their peers.
The tamariki were so excited about the whole process. The children learnt about foods they have never heard about and the different types of vegetables. We looked at recipes.

A great resource that can be used in many ways in the class to support curriculum learning in Science and Health. Students were engaged and enthusiastic to learn about the vegetables and to grow them themselves. A great way to inspire students to be healthier and cover curriculum objectives at the same times.
