The children loved watching their plants grow, most would come in each morning to see how they were doing , this generated lots of discussions. We also started the day sharing vegetable jokes which was a great start to the day. Lots of opportunity for cross-curricula learning

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A lot of students already knew a lot of the vegetables but this got them talking about them more, including why they are good for you AND coming to school saying they tried certain vegetables for the first time which was great.
Such an awesome resource to use alongside out sustainability unit. A treat to have everything there that we needed rather than collecting all the resources ourselves.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? When we originally planted our seeds each child investigated their plant and created a sign and fact file about their vegetable. We had a plant and insect growth focus for literacy, with reading, poetry and writing activities centred around vegetables and

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? One of the things we promoted was a fruit bowl in class and the inclusion of at least 2 fruits of veges in lunchboxes each day. Students still check with each other to see what healthy things they are eating in their lunchboxes.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Our students had an impressive knowledge of vegetables already! But we did have to look up a few lesser known ones.
This was a great resource to promote learning about different types of vegetables, healthy eating and growing/caring for seeds and plants. Students were really engaged by the hands-on nature of the learning and were excited to continue growing their own vegetables at home.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? If I had been able to use this kit earlier in the term, it would have been more useful. Our topics for the term had already been planned, so we did not have much flexibility to incorporate this into the learning.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? If we had been able to use this kit as part of our topic study, the children would have learnt more.
This is such a great little kit. I should have waited though, until this term started, to hand out the little kits, because I had to allow the children to take them home and only a few children actually took part. They were all excited in the beginning, but I have not seen the final results. They enjoyed the game, and found some vegetables which they did not recognise.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Together with the Bite Lab kit, this is having a very positive effect on students perceptions of vegetables and their importance to life and health.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This is still a work in progress as we have not yet completed all of the unit.
We have just started our Little gardens this term as we didn't want the little plants left over the term break and we wanted to wait until the weather was warmer. The children had a great time 'growing' their soil pellet and potting up their seeds. We used wooden forks for labels instead of the cardboard ones in the pack which I found, in previous years, have quickly become sodden. The seeds have germinated quickly and some are about ready to pot on.. The first and last thing the students do each day is to check their 'babies' - watering them and placing in a warm spot outside. We recently did the Bite Lab kit and there is discussion now about being willing to try their new vegetable.
