In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kit has prompted lots of discussion around healthy food as children's food experiences are varied. A big plus for our tamariki is that they now realise that it doesn't take much to grow your own veggies.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It has definitely helped tamariki identify more vegetables, as many students were not previously aware of all the veggies in the kit. We continue to watch our plants over this term and are excited to see how they grow.
The kit is very well presented, and included enough individual resources for the class. The tamariki loved all the club membership badges etc. We are still working with the kit in Term 4 as it didn't arrive until late Term 3. We have finished the planting of the seedlings and are now watching them grow.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit has been a fantastic way to improve student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This had a big impact on the students' abilities to identify vegetables. Many of the vegetables the students hadn't seen before. It sparked a lot of good conversation and interest in going on supermarket visits with families.
The Little Garden unit was very successful in our Year 1 class. The students enjoyed having the opportunity to plant their own vegetables and also earn their badges.

My students loved learning about different types of vegetables and cared so well for their plants! They have since taken them home and are having heaps of conversations about the types of food they eat and how their plants are growing!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My students are loving adding fresh veggies and fruit to their lunch boxes every day. The conversation about what types they have today is fantastic. Less waste, reduced junk, and more healthy snacks. An absolute win!
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Massive, my students are now aware of different types of veggies that they have never heard of before. They are now involved with choosing and helping prepare kai at home with their whanau.
Absolutely fantastic. Students loved seeing their seeds grow into seedlings and then being able to plant into the ground to provide kai for the community! So much learning happened!

The children loved the hands on task of planting the seeds. There was lots of discussion over the plants needs, the types of seeds and the planting process. The children have loved the responsibility of caring for the plants.
