How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We had a bit of a go at it but as I said we only got the kit quite late.
Children loved making the little garden and were so excited to watch them sprout. However, it was a shame that they took so long to come. We only had a couple of weeks till term finished so we sent them home and I invited children to send me pictures of their plants progress.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It made eating vegetables 'cool' and normalised them amongst their peers. They would point them out to others i
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Many children (and adults!) learnt new vegetable from this kit. The Match game helped support this - we did find it useful to have the LGL Class Photo printed out next to the game as they were playing to help support them.
My class of Year 3 children loved this kit! We followed the storyline to be secret LGL members and kids relate to this terminology now like second nature. They took pride and joy at looking after their little seedlings at school and are now nurturing them at home. The updates they send to school are pretty neat! Some children had never planted seeds before so this experience gave them that hands on chance. All children learnt about new vegetables and herbs and this created lots of interesting discussions - many can't wait for their seedlings to grow bigger so they can start producing the foods so they can try them. It encouraged them to look around the supermarket when they go shopping and ask their adult if they can purchase a different item in the fresh fruit area to take home and try. The class have loved completing crack the codes and as a teacher I found these so easy being all ready to print to use. The teacher guide was well written and once you became familiar at how to navigate the site it was smooth sailing (or growing!) from there. A well prepared kit - plenty of product provided so all children had one and with class spares to collectively grow. My kids were super excited about this kit and I would recommend others to get on board this kit if unsure. Excited kids make learning easy!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit raised our awareness of the foods we eat and what we should be eating more of. Be great for our kids to share this knowledge back with their parents when making their lunches so parents become more aware of hidden sugars.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We made links to the vegetables and saying these in their own home languages.
My students thoroughly enjoyed the secret garden league club. They enjoyed the code crackers, utilising their developing literacy skills. It was great to receive a decent amount of seed pods allowing all students to plant their own and even take some home to share with their family.
