The students enjoyed the tasks, planting and game. The kit took a term longer to arrive than what I had anticipated.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Writing- the code cracking was awesome at helping students recognise letters. Students also wrote about planting the seeds. Reading - about different vegetables, healthy food etc. Science - learning about how plants grow. Art - drawing plants and vegeta

The students were interested in learning the different names/characters. Knowing which vegetable they were planting, and which were growing first. Playing the card game also helped the

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We wrote stories about growing our plants and created some art by paining some of our plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We talked about the importance of eating fruit and vegetables so they would have taken some of that on board and hopefully start learning to be aware of what they are eating.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There were some vegetables that some of them hadn't really heard of before so they learnt some new ones and were able to look at the pictures of what they look like.
The tamariki all loved the little garden school kit. We enjoyed watching the seedlings grow in the classroom and we planted them out in the school garden so we can continue watching them grow.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Not a huge amount yet, but I imagine as our plants grow more and we have more kōrero around it, they will.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We had lots of fun/learning looking up vegetables that they had not heard of before and what they looked like to try and identify if they were a veg or herb.
The children loved the code crackers and learning about their wonderings for planting herbs and veggies. Good responsibility for them to have.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We have been able to use this kit during our Literacy time, engaging in research, graphing the height and growth over time. The tamariki have been so excited about the learning.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? we used this in our Planet Earth topic to help understand why things grow in particular seasons.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They all know the theory about eating healthy, we will need to help them turn this into practice and make our veggies yum when they are ready to harvest.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The students learned about new veggies they had never seen or eaten before.
Loved the little gardens, has enabled us to put theory into practice while learning about seasons and parts of a plant. Our student's loved getting their hands dirty, taking responsibility for watering the plants and loved watching them grow. We are now utilising our school growing space to plant out our veggies.

The children loved making the little garden seedlings. They've enjoyed watching them grow. Now we are searching for a place to put them outside as they are too big for the little pots. Thank you for providing us with such great learning inspiration.
