In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are more willing to try the vegetables they get in their school lunch now they have been involved in the process of growing vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? My students did know a lot of the fairly common vegetables they would have in their homes, but they didn’t know about Kale and some of the other herbs, where as now they do.
My students loved this school kit. They are amazed everyday at how fast their plants are growing. They enjoyed the planting process and are ready to move them into the vegetable beds at our school, so the whole school can enjoy the results.

My ELL students enjoyed planting their seedlings and taking them home with their badges. The tasks were all very good for developing vocabulary.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students were excited to grow and eat their veges. Students talked about eating more veges because they now know where they come from.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? playing the card game and having all the different kinds of vegetable plants exposed the children to many new vegetables.
My yr 3&4 class loved this kit! It was something fun and exciting for them. It was the first time that all students had planted and cared for a plant. We grew and kept them in class for 4 weeks and sent them home in the holidays.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I was able to link this easily with literacy as we read about different vegetables. We also linked this with code cracking and codes that have been used over time and the development of the alphabet.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We linked this with reducing plastic. I think the children made the connection that healthy eating related to this as fruit and vegetables were not covered in plastic like unhealthy foods.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I was surprised at how many vegetables the children knew. It did show the gaps between different children's knowledge though.
I love the little garden kit and have missed not doing it with my class for the last couple of years. I really liked the additional ideas of how we could use it in our classroom and the video links and photos from other schools. The children always love the code crackers and the a-z vegetable activity too.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Maths...measurement and Writing. We made plant diaries and measured our plant growth every couple of days. We recorded observations and drew pictures of what our plants looked like.

We didn't have the outdoor garden space to grow the plants fully at school. the learners have taken them home and have been encouraged to bring the produce back when it is mature. Many learners were still hesitant and just assumed that t
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Many learners were able to name new vegetables and watch them grow. They were very supprised that popcorn grows on a plant.
My class loved planting their own seeds and watching them grow. They were also excited to be part of the club. They have taken their little seedlings home to Grow and we look forward to tasting them soon.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It inspired them to grow their own vegetables to eat and to try new vegetables they haven't had before
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students came across vegetables they had never heard of before and by the end of the unit were able to recognise these and talk about how they could be eaten.
Once again this was a fantastic kit to do with the class. The children enjoyed finding out about new vegetables and challenged themselves to learn how to spell the vegetable names. They researched a vegetable and found recipes using that vegetable to share with others.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Writing - we did character writing about their vegetable. DT - The children drew a picture and then turned it into an animation. We had never done this before so was great to have a go.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think that fact that the children could see their vegetables growing made them feel really proud and because they were growing them, they are eager to taste them when they are fully grown.

The children were so excited to receive this resource. There was a good range of vegetables. They got really enjoyed watching them grow and watering them each day. It helped them realise that some grow at different rates. They liked completing the tasks that went along with the kit.
