In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has really encouraged my students to try new veges, we are planning to grow some mushrooms to continue our learning, and planting our little garden pots in the classroom garden so that we can harvest them later on when they are ready.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Greatly, They are still obsessed with the garden patch match game, and I was able to create a snap resource, which helped them create links from english to te reo maori.
This is the first time I have used school kit before and honestly! I will be ordering more in the future. My students have been obsessed with this program and it has really ignited the little gardeners within them. It has allowed us to develop a cross curricular approach that suits the wide range of needs of the students in my class.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Prompted lots of thoughtful discussion around 'healthy v less healthy' as children's food experiences varied. A big outcome for our children was that they can actually grow healthy nutritious food themselves!
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Knowledge was limited at the start, many children had not heard of, seen or tasted all of the vegetables in the kit before. The picture cards included in the game were really useful for discussing these new vegetables. Also children's understanding of whe
The Little Gardens 22 kit tied in perfectly with our Junior School's inquiry focus "The food we eat goes through many changes." It provided a manageable, in-class, hands on, and authentic experience that many of our children had not had before. It opened their eyes to the wide variety of vegetables available, and hopefully inspired them to taste or try new vegetables having grown their own! Many thanks for the memorable & engaging opportunity!

Our class loved this kit and couldn't wait to get to school each day to see how their plants were doing. Lots of great discussions and questions.

Thank you so much for this wonderful kit. The students were totally engaged from opening the box to see what we had been sent. The first thing they did this morning after the holidays was check how their seedlings had grown. The kit came well stocked and the students enjoyed the mystery of opening their seedling to see what was inside. The card game was well received and played as a whole class activity regularly- nice to have a new game. Students were engaged and interested in learning about the new plants they encountered and what they could be used for. I hope we get a chance to do this kit next year as well. Thank you New World.

This was a great little kit and the kids really enjoyed the activities. They really got into the plants and it was good to see some of the "vege-phobic" being interested in veges. Would have loved a bit more time to get the plants to actually eat. Next time, could it come out a little quicker?

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Health and Science were probably best incorporated in this. English (Reading, Writing and Oral Language) were also highly used.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? More students eat fruit within the classroom and will try our school lunches. It would be great if this would continue over into their own home brought lunches though.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I was amazed by what the students knew by the end. Not only vegetables but varieties of fruit also.
This has been an awesome experience for my students. It covered so many different curriculum areas (which is a bonus). Being part of a secret club was a real hook in for my class - we did our own challenges and they all helped each other succeed. We've used our fruit in schools programme to make us "taste" more and also our school lunches.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Definitely helped them recognise them more and home and at the supermarket.
So easy to follow, this is my second time doing this kit. The kids loved it, it’s so hands on and it’s a great chance to teach the kids that they shouldn’t be afraid to get their hands dirty.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The tamariki are talking about the kai that they bring in their luncboxes. Hey you have carrots today , those are healthy aye Whaea. These sorts of conversations.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? With us this there was a little bit of identifying new vegetables to the tamariki but also a lot of learning the kupu Māori for the vegetables they knew the English words for
We enjoyed this kit with our class. The resources provided were amazing. We struggled in our class a little as we are a Kura Kaupapa and a lot of the tamariki didn't know the majority of the Māori names for the vegetables. This made playing the card game difficult. They all loved completing the code crackers, but this was also only available in English, which they commented on funnily enough. They absolutely buzzed out coming in each day to see the growth of their plants, especially the peas and corn. We are continuing this kaupapa into term 4 looking at the stages seeds and plants go through as they grow.
