What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I signed up for this kit with our Eureka theme in mind. It provided rich language experiences for the students to write about. My team also used this vocabulary in our math problems.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think I could have done a better job at delving deeper into this area and linking it to Health.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? All aspects of the kit provided plenty of opportunities for students to be exposed to vegetable names. My students came away having learned a number of new vegetables.

“I found it a bit confusing to navigate the app and figure out how to organise the teaching aspect (locating the origin story etc). Other than that, the anticipation built towards being a club member kept students engaged and excited. I will definitely be keen to do it again.”

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I had to do a lot more prep/pre work to scaffold the learning before the information in the school kit because it wasn't as in depth as I thought it would be.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some.

“Received it rather late in the term which made it hard to really delve into as had to postpone it and other things in class were taught. Then the school kit had to be taught a bit later.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We did a lot of reading and writing activities around vegetables.

How successful was this kit in building student recognition of vegetables?

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Especially during planting, students discussed if they have tried each of the vegetables they planted. Others were then encouraged to try different ones. They liked how the missions from headquarters got them to try new ones. It was good motivation.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students were able to see a few new vegetables that they may haven't heard of, but those that they did know of they were excited to see how they look at the early stages of growing.

“This kit is really good for engaging students in discussions around nutritious food. The students loved the code breakers and the idea of a headquarters really helped spark that engagement. It is an 'extra' thing to add on top of a busy curriculum but I am hoping it will be a great lead in to our hauora inquiry in term 4. The online hub was extremely useful to see what others were doing and to access all the resources and extra information.”

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The children have loved identifying the veggies, especially as we had many names from our class used to name the vegetables.

“The children have loved this school kit. They loved all the activities and we will start to try some of the vegetables when the grow.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used the little gardens in our writing programme. The children loved writing letters to the vegetables. We are continuing on with the grwoing theme this term and taking it into a science focus.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kit gave us the opportunity to talk about healthy eating with the chidlren adn how they could grow their own vegetables and then be able to eat them.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We also explored other types of vegetables and made connections to what kids grow at home. We looked at their lunchboxes too and talked about all the different types of veges in their lunches.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Our tamariki were going home talking to their whānau about what they were learning and growing at school so it was very successful. The kids proudly took their plants home at the end of term!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Our kids had a good base knowledge as we've looked into vegetables before but this was a good refresher and something really practical that the children loved doing.
