In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I think this had the least amount of impact by the end of the kit. Our general focus became more about the grow and protect and we did minimal 'taste' - but we did do a roast vege medley to taste and they really loved it - more so than we expected. A lot
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students were able to identify the vegetables, mainly due to the founding members. From that, we added our own activities like the vege fact files and really helped them to differentiate between some of the root veges or leafy veges (reddish, turnip, spin
My self and my co-buddy Abby really enjoyed the Little Garden Kit. Our tamariki were so engaged with the entire process and they loved the story of the veges and their mission. It was very easy to draw them into the project with the fantastic characters. The kit comes with some great resources and gives you lots of great ideas to implement in the classroom during your kit. It is really well resourced. One thing I would appreciate would be the resources online to be organised by week (like week ones tasks, week twos challenges etc) and give a general guide of how long it could take you to complete it. Just to follow it a bit easier, but I know this wouldn't work for everyone :) One thing I would say is it is what you make it. Abby and I worked really hard to adopt the storyline given by the kit, and from there make it very interactive and engaging. We took a lot of the ideas and suggestions from the kit and then added on even more to create a real opportunity for rich topic based learning in our classroom. I really enjoyed making the fun letters from the veges, and creating additional challenges. I think this kit is great, but its even better if you apply yourself and really create a clubhouse secret society atmosphere for the children. Our year 3's completely bought into the storylines they got excited for the comms every day and worked hard to complete all missions with a smile on their faces. I encourage anyone that does this kit to share the resources you make with others or the learning you do - its so fun to be able to make and create and share with your fellow teachers! So amazing - thanks School Kit for this awesome opportunity. Our students ar every grateful! Courtney + Abby

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were proud of their vegetables and had ownership of them so want to eat and give them a try. An absolutely wonderful kit thank you so much !
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The card match game caused a lot of interesting conversations. There was such great chat about what each vegetable is and 'it's actually yum , have you tried it?" came up alot!! Parents got involved too and were super keen to receive little gardens to car
Absolutely LOVE this kit. It is my favourite Kit by far! Kids loved everything about it. They enjoyed setting up the banner, writing and rating the vegetables chart! The code breaker was a hit! They loved assembling the mail box. The growing of veges allows such great conversations around why some are 'sprouting' faster than others and germination time etc.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were keen to try new foods that I brought in to class. How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? With the vege patch match game (we play spot it in class) helped children to identify new vegetables and they were quick at identifying the ones they already knew. Was a game children chose to play during their own time eg before school.
This kit was amazing. The children were so engaged they were asking for it any time we had some spare time. They enjoyed the mystery and the code crackers. They were amazed to find other adults around the school who belonged to the garden club. The vege patch match was a hit and children tried really hard to remember the names of unfamiliar vegetables. The plants are now planted out and children are keen to look after them in the classroom garden. I really enjoyed doing this with the children and seeing how engaged they were and how much joy it bought them. Gardening is great!

It would have been great to receive the kit more at the start of term 3 than towards the end but even so the kids loved planting and growing the seeds. It tied in nicely with our healthy eating unit of learning. It was also a great opportunities to introduce kids to veges they had never heard of or tried. We had a tasting session to.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I feel students now view vegetables as 'fun' therefore promoting healthier choices. We also found students were feeding back information to home which was awesome. :)
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A great impact. Nice to hear a new few vegetables (radish, beetroot) which left kids wondering and wanting to try it!
Fantastic! Kids LOVED it! Would do again! I think having their own seedling really 'hooked' them into this unit.
