In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are keen to put the vegie plants into the school garden pod, and see what we can do when they grow. If its food our kids will usually eat it!
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This was interesting, they loved the tortoise eating broccoli and we had a great discussion about kale.
Outstanding kit for interest and learning. Lovely to see students helping each other to remember sequence for the potting, and how to crack the code. A lovely kit I would do again, its perfect for this level Y3.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were excited about the idea of growing their own vegies at home and being able to eat vegies fresh from the garden. They were enthusiastic about trying new things and there was lots of discussion about healthy choices.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I was surprised at the amount of vegetables the students already knew but it was good the kit had some lesser known vegies for students to learn about and spark curiosity to learn about other vegies they didn't know about.
We really enjoyed the Little Garden League kit this term. The students loved the range of activities and being part of a special club too. It was great seeing them taking risks and trying new tastes. The kit was a great addition to our concept learning all about kaitiakitanga. My students were engaged and enthusiastic about taking on the responsibility of protecting and growing their own vegies and the resources were engaging for all. Another great school kit.

Our Learning through Play class loved this kit. We set it up as a provocation for those who were interested. They loved cracking the codes, planting the seeds and observing the growth day to day. It has been a fantastic way for the children to be engaged together as they watch the plants. Next term we shall plant some in our class garden.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? There was a lot of oral language around this kit which was ideal for my five year olds as a lot of them come in without these skills. We also did some vegetable artwork.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have introduced fruit/vege snack during our read and feed now rather than the children choosing what to eat at that time and the children have a basic understanding of why we eat these at this time.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some children did really well at identifying vegetables while others were less engaged and didn't buy into that side of the kit. All children could identify the vegetable/plant that they planted.
Absolutely loved doing this school kit with my kids. The only thing that made things a bit tricky was the badges coming later as the 'secret club members' side of thing didn't have the buy in/understanding that I had hoped. Aside from this, my kids were really into it, we had lots of productive discussions about veges, how to grow them, our favourites etc. I also wondered, in the future for this kit, if some sort of tray could be provided for the seedlings to sit in.

This kit was very engaging and a way that students became aware of the variety and how to grow vegies/herbs from scratch. Being able to role play and share ideas from the app also helped to bring this kit to life in my classroom.

The children all enjoyed planting their seeds and checking to see how they had grown. It's a shame that the Little Gardens were in New World before the kits had been sent out so the "secret" was out before the children even knew there was a secret league.
