In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They recognised more vegetables and were happy to try eating them. Because we worked as a team they encouraged each other to try them. I saw an improvement in lunch boxes as the tamariki said they asked for vegetables to be added as well as fruit.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I was amazed at how well my new entrant tamariki learned the names of these vegetables.
What a fantastic resource this is. My tamariki were engaged with the activities and took on the responsibility of growing something of their own. The first thing they would do each morning was check on their plant and make sure it had water if it needed it. They had a sense of pride in their plant, talking to others (including any adult who happened to pass by) about the stages of growth and that it was 'real' food that they were growing. This unit linked beautifully with our Health unit as well.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of discussion around the benefits of choosing fruits and veges - linked nicely to our talks about the brain and their learning as well as the food pyramid and the foods we should be choosing 'most of the time.' We had also been to the Life Education
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It is amazing the number of children that only have a very basic vegetable knowledge and may not have been exposed to lots of different veges at home. So yes this was awesome at enhancing their knowledge around different veges.
What an awesome resource for our tamariki! They just loved the lessons, the resources and being so involved in their learning. Thank you so much!

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Great discussion starters. Great visual support material. Plenty of variety regarding which veges we eat raw ( lettuce, radish etc ) and which ones we often cook ... and what we get out of the cooking process for veges like spinach.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Because there is a range of veges the students learnt what the unusual ones were.
Fantastic way to link so many areas of the curriculum - science, writing, reading research, drawing, mindfulness. So many skills developed through hands on learning. Quality resource with great teacher support.
