How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some improvement on identification of vegetables however a longer growing period was needed.

“Good kit overall and the badges were well recieved. Some confusion once signedup and unfortunately and the kit took much longer than expected to arrive in the classroom. Children engaged in the growing process well although many struggled with the range of vegetables intially.”

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were more willing to try new vegetables or foods that they were reluctant to try in the school lunches when they could identify them as vegetables we grew in the kits.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students were able to see the way vegetables look before they are prepared, and look at the difference in the way different vegetables grow e.g. under the ground, tick whole vegetable or pick part.

“Students enjoyed watching their plants grow and loved being able to take them home to share with whanau.”

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The children became aware of the names of lots of new vegetables

“This kit was great for introducing many of the children to new vegetables they hadn't heard of or tried. They enjoyed growing the plants and were often found in conversations discussing the changes they were noticing as the plants were growing, and delighted to take the plants home, and finally to try the foods. This kit also linked in well with our Health topic of healthy eating.”

Children loved learning about the different veges and this linked well into health as well as us encouraging healthy food choices at read and feed times an

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lots of discussion around the benefits of choosing fruits and veges - linked nicely to our talks about the brain and their learning as well as the food pyramid and the foods we should be choosing 'most of the time.' We had also been to the Life Education

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It is amazing the number of children that only have a very basic vegetable knowledge and may not have been exposed to lots of different veges at home. So yes this was awesome at enhancing their knowledge around different veges.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Great discussion starters. Great visual support material. Plenty of variety regarding which veges we eat raw ( lettuce, radish etc ) and which ones we often cook ... and what we get out of the cooking process for veges like spinach.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Because there is a range of veges the students learnt what the unusual ones were.
