We used this alongside our 'little buddy' class, so that both could learn and enjoy this great resource. Plants were planted into the school garden, and some produce has made its way to our community Pātaka Kai. Great kit, fantastic resources - thank you so much!

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Tamariki were able to identify what they knew already, naming new plants and how the seasons apply to growth and which plants in which to grow. We extended our learning to briefly revisit Matariki, of which we covered earlier in the year.
Kia ora, the kit was a great accompaniment to my Long term Plan for term 4, which was Tane Mahuta - Guardian of the forest, covering both fauna and flora. We used it to support our learning about growth, the growth cycle, caring and nurturing plants. We also used our school garden to demonstrate additional growing of vegetables from seeds.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most of my learners were able to name many vegetables before we started this unit, however not as many had tasted the vegetables they could name or knew how these vegetables actually grew.
As a school with a garden and on that promotes healthy eating habits, it hasn't been difficult to engage our learners in The Little Green School Kit. It was fabulous that all the learners in my classroom could be involved in growing a plant for their own garden. It was good to have a few spare plants also, as a couplee of our initial seedlings didn't survive. Our learners were keen to take their seedling pots home and share their growing experience with their whanau.

It is so fun and a great way to get the children involved in growing veges.
