How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We look at vegetables and discussed which were fruit and vegetables depending on which grew seeds and which didn’t have seeds. We will continue this more when we harvest our vegetables

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We wrote about our planting and completed science andxart activities around the kit. We also went onto grow some other seeds and set up a 'shop' with posters etc.

“My class just loved the planting. They were all fascinated by the way the soil expanded and we had an amazing afternoon planting. Every day we monitored for signs of growth and eventually theymade it into our school garden. We were able to connect the kit to our learning around the Atua and planting native grasses in our local area. Thanks for another great kit.”

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We tried a range of different vegetables and fruit during this - which was enjoyed by the students. Many tried things for the first time or tried something they said they didn't like in a new way i.e cooked or with peanut butter.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? High - The children really enjoyed playing Veggie Patch Match. We also adapted the downloadable resource into cards for 'go fish'. They really enjoyed the names, especially the ones we had connections too (i.e. one of the boys in the class has a mum calle

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The children loved the hands-on aspect of planting their individual gardens. This had cross-curricular links with science, particularly - the living world. Applying to be a clubhouse member involved literacy skills.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Planting the little gardens helped students become aware and understand how vegetables are grown (where they come from) and will help the students later in life when they have the ability to make healthy choices in their lunchboxes themselves and later on

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There was a huge impact. Although some children hadn't heard of many of the different vegetables before, the visuals (stickers) and the 24 Founding Members Poster helped the students to identify vegetables.
