What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We connected our learning to Maths to measure plant growth and graph this as a class. We also connected our learning to English by reading stories about vegetables and writing about our plants.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children have been very excited to try their vegetables once they are fully grown. We have talked about what food they eat at home and how many vegetables they eat. It has also helped the children to distinguish between fruit and vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was great having the picture stickers to help the children identify vegetables.
This kit was amazing to help our tamariki learn to be tiakis and care for the world around us. It enabled them to learn how to care for plants and where our food comes from. We were also able to integrate many other curriculum areas into their learning.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We did work on bar graphs - graphing which plants sprouted and then analysing the graph afterwards. We also taught the kupu for the fruit and vegetables in te reo Māori.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Definitely increased student's willingness to try different vegetables. They were talking lots about the unit at home and whānau also got on board with trying different vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was surprising what the students didn't know about vegetables. Their recognition of different vegetables increased dramatically.
Our students were very engaged with this unit. They loved being a part of a 'secret club' and were very excited about having their own plants to grow. We looked at lots of different plants and how they grow - we watched lots of time lapse videos.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We wrote expanation texts arounf the little gardens - planting them and caring for them. We used them for inspiration for art.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This made my students aware of the healthy vegetables and fruit they could eat as an alternative to other sugary treats.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Many of my students were able to identify lots of the vegetables already and has a high knowledge of them. They had planted some of the little garden kits at home too and were very excited to be able to grow some at school.
My students loved planting their little gardens, caring for them and watching them grow. They were very excited to receive gardening badges too.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We were able to have a number of learning conversations about nutrition, tied to MRS GREN and the little garden kit.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Although this wasn't our focus, the identification of vegetables (types) was grown by using the kit.
The kit arrived in a timely way- good communication from School Kit as to when to expect delivery. The kit was in great condition and was easy to assemble the parts. The children's reaction to seeing it was exciting- they oohed and ahhed and talked about the little gardens they have had in the past.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We looked at what each vegetable provided in terms of nutrition which was something the students had not considered before.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Some children were able to discover vegetables that they had never heard of before.
Our class enjoyed watching their plants grow. They were intrigued by the fact that different seeds took longer than others to germinate.
