It also gave us the opportunity to incorporate science looking at how seeds grow, photosynthesis and what is need to look af

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were able to understand that vegetables help keep us healthy and each vegetable plays a big part in our everyday living.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It had an awesome impact on my students. We were able to look at the vegetables and learn ways in which we can eat them.

“The Little Garden League was a great, hands on project that my class thoroughly enjoyed at the end of term 3 and beginning of term 4. Students had the opportunity to learn about different vegetables and how to care for them. It worked well with our atua Māori that we were looking at 'Rongomtāne and Haumietiketike'. I look forward to doing this again in the future. Great topic!!!”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Oral language was huge for our tamariki. Learning specific categories and names of vegetables was big for them as they did not know some of them before we did the kit.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were able to share what they had for dinner and if it was healthy or not.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This was a fun and competitive part as children ended up having a mini competition within their group to be able to identify the vegetables

“The kit was very much enjoyed by our class and they loved the story and belonging to a 'secret' club. Children learnt about the different vegetables and are very keen to make our own junior vege garden before the end of the year :)”
