Which resources were most engaging and most useful to students? The physical resources were probably the most engaging to the students. They loved how they looked and how they felt authentic. The timeline was also useful. Being encouraged to manipulate points on the timeline throughout the learning really supported an

“The lesson went very well and the students were highly engaged throughout. The topics of Aotearoa New Zealand's relationships with Pacific states, the Navy's participation in international conflicts, and considering missing perspectives were all very thought-provoking and sparked insightful discussions among the students. I was impressed by the students' curiosity and eagerness to learn about these topics, especially since they had not heard about nuclear before. It was encouraging to see them asking thoughtful questions and expressing their own opinions and viewpoints. The teacher did a great job of facilitating the discussion and providing relevant background information, which allowed the students to gain a deeper understanding of the topics. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on considering missing perspectives, as this helped the students to see each side of the story and avoid making assumptions. Overall, the lesson was a great success and it was evident that the students had learned a lot. They left the class with a better understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand's role in the world and the importance of considering different perspectives.”

Really informative information about the life experiences of some of our sailors who weren't much older than our tamariki when they served.

“Our students loved the items that came with this kit! I loved how each era studied had its own pattern and the corresponding resources in the kit had this pattern on them. The Spotify playlists were fantastic and set the scene for our study time. This kit was a great introduction to students creating their own self inquiries on the Nuclear Age.”
