How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I think the planning with the resources helped me have more of an understanding but if the instructions were more clear I would have gained confidence quicker.

“Wow! So great. So many resources. Really creative lessons! A little hard to follow because of the discovery elements. My students (year 7's) really loved this. It helped them to learn so much around the histories and the little trinkets made the lessons come to life. The photos and elements like that helped the students relate to the people who came before. It's quite a big and involved unit with many many avenues to go down and other things to branch off from and rabbitholes to go down!”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It certainly added some layers of thinking for us. How could we adapt the format and interstate our local history too? One of our students was so interested that they researched street names and building names to find the history links there.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Gave my students and I a really solid jumping off point. We ALL got excited about where our learning ended up - we followed things through the kit and out beyond!

This was great for us, we spent the first term looking at the stories of Rangitāne ( our local iwi ). Our students were already primed to be looking through a culturally responsive lens.

“I absolutely LOVED this kit. It started off as a simple posed statement - This Is Aotearoa - it morphed into New Zealand geography, iwi locations, the range of breadth of protests staged in Aotearoa of the years, Parihaka, The Rainbow Warrior, pre Te Tiriti o Waitangi history and leaders and far beyond! The set up and jumping off points were all perfect! This is a kit that will be used again and again by my classes and I. Nailed it School Kit ….. Ka mau te wehi!!!”

“This was a great kit, Took a while to get my head around it but once sorted it worked really well! Kids were able to work in buddies and discover interesting facts and build knowledge about a wide range of events. This term we are going to try and create a timeline in minecraft to display our learning.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? After completing some of this kit (obviously couldn't get through it all!) I am extremely motivated to explore more history in our local area. This is a great model to use, as it provides curiosity and so much engagement from the tamariki.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It is important to understand the history of the area you live in. Some of the resources were linked to areas very close to home. it is a model that could easily be adopted to explore the history of our area more closely.

My knowledge of many of these stories was limited or non existent. having this resource and the associated items/archives etc to utilise meant I knew I was able to provide credible and valuable learning/knowledge to the students.

“Clearly a lot of time and effort went into producing this fabulous kit and I loved learning about Aotearoa/NZ's histories along with my students. The resources were high quality and varied. The objects and photos captured the interest of the students from the start and the 'detective/treasure hunt' aspect of this unit appealed to our students. They enjoyed being able to touch the objects and investigate the other items more thoroughly. Some of our students did need a lot of guidance to help them complete the activities and navigate their way around the various archives, some of which were trickier to use than others. Overall a broad and balanced resource that covered a lot of ground.”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The kit helped my confidence as I am learning alongside my students and gave me direction of what to teach. With other information I now have about AHCurriculum I feel I can deliver this much better when I teach it again in the future.
