How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Next year, we hope to use the same model to investigate some of the stories closer to home for the class, particularly looking into stories that are potentially a little less told.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I honestly feel a lot more informed on the overall topic of Aotearoa History via this kit. I've just found myself growing in confidence with every new piece of information and resource.

“The kids absolutely love this kit! It was a great launch for our overall unit with the kids ending up choosing an event to research further and present their findings. The resources were super user-friendly and they had a great time looking through all of the old photos.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We have done a lot of that already, we tend to start the year with that, so it certainly added to that idea of how important our history is!

“Students loved solving the treasure hunt-type clues, they were fully engaged. The graphs and design were appealing as well and as perusual the kit was user friendly to Staff. Students followed on with choosing their own piece of our history to research/inquire into and they loved that and felt proud, included QR codes so other students could access their learning too. “School Kit you have done it again! This kit is absolutely outstanding - my class are so enthralled by each and every piece of the earning involved with each card. My class this year is a bit lower academically so we are doing each card as a group with opportunities for research along the way. The stories that have been shared and the resources that are available are wonderful. I personally, am enjoying learning all about Aotearoa's history as well. Love, love, love!!!”

“Absolutely loved this resource. It kept the kids engaged and they loved how it was like an online treasure hunt. It was great that the readings were differentiated - however, we got more out of this as a whole class. Being so interactive with the trinkets provided, the students felt as though they had a real piece of history to look at. Totally recommend!”

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I am no longer scared. As a pakeha there is a very real fear of messing this up, or missing something important. This kit has been invaluable in helping raise my own confidence in teaching the new curriculum.

I think this approach made them work hard for the knowledge and it increased engagement when they learned so

“An outstanding, well thought out resource. We loved the trinkets attached to the stories. Our Year 7& readers who struggle required guided reading and small group discussion in order to complete the tasks, otherwise most of our students could work relatively independently on the tasks.”
