How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Definitely improved it and by the end I felt more confident with the knowledge and how to navigate the site.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? This Kit has motivated me to explore the history of our local area. To find stories from many sources that help tell the history of our area. Finding photos that capture a moment in time and using the reading a photo strategy from the kit.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? The Kit was easy to follow so I felt confident when sharing and completing the activity with my students. We all learnt a lot and enjoyed the different activities.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? This is a great model to help us explore the history of our local area. We would just need to ensure that we were able to make connections and get iwi voice into what we were doing also.

“This kit was so engaging to both the tamariki and the kaiako! The teacher aide I have in my classroom and I were engrossed in looking at the artefacts and making connections to what we knew ourselves. From the start with students discovering where their postcard was located and the stories it connected to they were engaged and interested. They loved getting the linked artefacts and looking at the them. The resources which were linked an included (such as how to read a historical photo) were a great way to upskill students so that we can continue the journey when we head back to school. It also provides them with skills to take to college or use at home when connecting to their past. I haven't finished with this kit - I will continue to use it going forward and use as a model to unpack more of our local history too.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We looked deeply into the Pukekohe task. This was highly motivating and captivated the students attention. We had students taking their families for drives on the weekend to find the houses and locations that features in the tasks.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The ability to dive so deep and use stories to do so has been fabulous and we are more extensively exploring local history through stories now.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? In some way the kit gave me more confidence but the complexity of it also decreased my confidence. I think I would like to take much more time to get to know the contents of the kit before introducing it to students next time.

Sometimes I found the amount of information too much and didn;t know where to start but we got there. Thanks so much for the amount of effort put into this kit.

“That kit was utterly amazing. I feel like I only just scratched the surface as it had so many different avenues about NZ History that I could take. I appreciate the website that gave the children the pepeha most as they were busy looking up things about each place to identify where it was.”
