How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? The school has been working on the stories in our area, but mainly from just the māori legend perspective. It would be great to find out some more recent history as was the case in the kits.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? This has given me some direction when exploring the NZ History. There was a good variety of perspectives and events that have made NZesr who we are today. I feel it has widened my approach to the teaching of NZ History.

There was a good range of cards available for the students to choose from. The kits had really interesting resources that the students were able to have in the big as well as finding them online. The bonus was that they had to research to translate the pepeha, so they got to use what they knew of te reo and explore a bit of New Zealand geography. Some of the concepts (even in ‘easy’) were a little over the heads of Yr 5/6, but we could work through it with some explicit teaching.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It was a good template to continue to use to further our own investigations about our local history and we have explored our local community after finishing this kit.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It was cool to do and has given me a good idea of how to use the new curiculum but the kids did struggle with all of the reading on the platform. It would have been awesome to have a read to function so the infomation could be read to struggling readers.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The kids loved having links to local iwi as it encouraged my moari students to share the knowledge they had with the class.

I really enjoyed teaching this kit. We went through 3 different investigations and choose the ones relevant to our local area. The kids were really engaged and loved finding clues and learning about local history.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We haven't been able to get to this part as much as we would have liked but it links into next term as well where we will take some of the patai and explore our own local area.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? Having the resources on hand was hugely important as it was a great starting place. I liked being able to use the interactive pages as well and how the links were also active. (This meant that the more able children were able to independently continue the

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? This is an area we need to develop further. We have a relationship with our local iwi but at this stage that is leadership based. It all takes time so we have begun the journey knowing that we have a long way to go as a kura.

We have really enjoyed opening up the experiences that this kit has offered us. We have taken things really slowly so that we can unpack some of the pre knowledge that is required even for Y 7/8. They loved the hands on items and discovering things about places based on what they knew. I really liked the critical aspect of the teaching.

We used ideas from this kit to engage our kids learning about the immediate area around our school. eg. Sadly my photos won't upload but we had a fantastic time with this unit. The kids were so engaged in the process and enjoyed the group research. We set up the resources inside a breakout room and shut the door the week before we began the unit. The kids could see in but couldn't go into the room and this created a high level of curiosity. They were so interested in all of the resources once they were able to investigate further.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We already do some local history, but I can see from your model how we can improve the telling of those local stories to link to wider historical ideas.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? As a History teacher, in a school that has delivered the histories of Aotearoa NZ for years, I didn't feel that your kit added much to my own kete of knowledge.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Our school already has a strong connection with local iwi, so your kit didn't make much impact in this area.

I thought parts of the kit were great, particularly the historical skills section, which would be very useful for non-History teachers. However, I also found the kit quite unwieldy, with confusing pathways to find things and even to get onto the site. I felt that the postcard system seemed an overly complicated pathway into the learning materials. I used the material around Women's Suffrage, as that fitted my teaching programme in Term 3. There were useful ideas in the learning and links to sites such as papers past and the digitalnz story book that were good for teaching research skills. However, the pathways were so complicated that I took your ideas and repackaged them as I knew my students would struggle to find their way through your system. I also supplemented your digital material with the hard material from your Women's Suffrage kit from a few years ago, which the students really enjoyed.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? As above. We looked at our local street names in Red Beach and where these names had come from. We also looked at the new housing development in Orewa and where these names orginated from. It's made everything a real adventure.

This was a hit in my classroom for myself and the kids. We also had wonderful stories coming to school from whanau about what they remembered or new. I also loved the name 'something happened here' we started the term with a crime scene, and collected evidence. The kids knew when they were given the photo or for some kids the treasure, that they needed to figure out what had happened here. Awesomme title!
