What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Students loved hearing stories about Aotearoa's past. We had been learning about NZ history all term but there were a number of stories in the kit that we had not covered yet and the students found them particularly interesting.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? The impact in our class was very telling with the NZ Maori students who were able to identify, relate and make connections with certain aspects of the stories told. Engagement levels were definitely enhanced due to connections made.

A great kit that comes with a load of potential for a variety of takes. My year 5/6 students were so intrigued by the clues that came within the kit and worked tirelessly in pairs investigating, researching, learning and making links to become the 'experts' on their chosen postcard. Over the weeks in which we worked on the kit, students developed research posters which they shared back to the class becoming the 'teacher' or 'experts' on their historic event. The learning enabled students to enhance their geographical knowledge alongside many other aspects of new learning. We also used the Aotearoa History Episodes developed by the Ministry to use alongside this kit. They tie together quite well. We have only touched the fringes of this kit and have much more that we can and will do going forward into the next term. One minor thing is that some of the content, reading, investigating and comprehension were pitched at level 4 if not higher at times making it challenging for independent research. However, overall a great kit that I highly recommend to other senior teachers.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Definitely provided an insight into how local korero could be carried out based on some of the stories in the kit. We haven't fully finished yet and will be carrying on next term.

There are stories that link directly to our community, which has been fascinating to learn about, and has prompted us to want to learn more. What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? Learning about the people/ iwi / whānau and community in the stories has made the learning more tangiable. Many times, when you want to know about places or events, a barrier is that you dont know who to ask or have a connection to iwi or community so thi

Our Year 4 class are throughly enjoying the history that we have been researching this term. It is such a full kit that I know we will be working with it for many years. There are so many skills that we are learning and drawing on to look into the stories. The website, activities, prompts and hands on artifacts are amazing! Thank you School Kit!

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I'm interested in applying the investigative style learning about history to local contexts. The issue now becomes knowing what stories are out there to explore.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I'm much more confident. I now know more about what is expected from the histories curriculum (understand/know/do) and how to lead students through an investigation and discussion, using historical sources of information, about what has happenend.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? I don't know how to measure this. The pepeha allowed us to have a conversation about who lived in these places and the impact this has has on tangata whenua.

The ANZH school kit has been a valuable tool in developing my students' knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand's history and in supporting my ability to teach history. The breadth of resources available allowed me to tie the ANZH kit into our existing units at school. The students enjoyed the challenge of finding the location of the stories and then drilling down to find out what happened. A fantastic resource that will be used for years to come.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? I was already focused on my local history, this took me away from a local focus

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I think I have a good knowledge of local history but this was almost too much. While we only focused on a small number of the stories the amount of information was huge and needed time to make it understandable for my class or to cut to the important part

The kits contents were excellent. The children had difficulty making connections from the pepeha to the event, and then getting information at their level (year 5+6) that they relate to. Many of the sources were aimed at adult audiences and they found it hard to extract information from some of these things.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We didn't find any stories to do with Napier/Hawkes Bay. If we were to find one and it were viable it would be great to visit the location.

What a fantastic resource. The learners were absolutely enamoured with the kit. The stories, the depth, the knowledge. They loved it! It helped them to develop many skills including researching, co-operation, questioning and report writing. They each have only explored one topic so it leaves the opportunity for much more learning. A resource that can be used again and again. Well done, School Kits!

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? With a higher level class we would have used the structure to inform our further research - to visit our local museum and take our local knowledge a lot further. I had planned to interview people who live in our small town and look at the local Māori land

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It definitely expanded my thinking around what can be included in Aotearoa NZ history and I personally found the stories fascinating. The tasks were just too hard for my class and they lost interest quickly.

Kia ora, I thought the kit was really beautiful, interesting and comprehensive. Unfortunately, for my year 7 & 8 class it was a bit out of their reach. I thought curriculum and activity wise it was probably geared more for a year 9 & 10 group (or even higher!).
